I have lenovo laptops and previous to finding this gem, only the Lenovo brand dongles worked I am very happy to have finally found a dongle that works. My clients are always losing their OEM ones so being able to snag one of these at most Best Buys is awesome!

Motorola seems to own this category, but I want anyone reading this review to give this modem a good hard look. I used the web based setup from Time Warner. Time Warner provides instructions on how to activate cable modems via the web if you already have an account, and they were spot on. My modem activated and I did not have to call in and spend ages on hold getting passed around. I am now a couple of months into it and it has worked flawlessly. I admit, this brand has been off my radar, but not any more!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Why does the orange light constantly blink?
There are two lights, one for link, the other for data. The light blinks to show that data packets are moving. The one lit all the time is telling you that you have a valid physical link to the network

Compatible signal booster for NetGear N600 DSL router/modem
My N600 is set up in a location with two separate buildings; the signal must travel about 70 feet through walls, rocks, trees etc. -- does not do particularly well reaching 2nd building. Do you have a recommended booster for this product -- I'm thinking of installing under the roof eave on an outside wall to improve line of site to 2nd building. Suggestion?
For this setup, I strongly suggest you install a couple of repeaters like this one available on Best Buy

You can with a little bit of tech knowledge buy routers and set them to repeater mode. But the above is specifically designed to fix the issue you are having

why it wont work with cable modem
i bought this router/modem cause it said on the box it was dsl and could be used with a cable modem. and now that i have cable i also got the cable internet and this unit will not work with the cable modem why
There are two main types of internet. DSL, which is used by old school phone companies like Att, and cable internet which is used by Time Warner, Comcast Xfinity, and a slew of smaller regional CABLE companies. This model is specifically designed to with the phone lines that the old style land lines used in the day, and some companies like ATT still use. YOU needed a DOCSIS modem, NOT a DSL modem.
Most cable internet providers give you an exact list of the modems that work with their setup. I suggest you check with your internet provide for a list of approved modems so you can avoid confusion

can you hook up a phone to it and does it work well with comcast internet
No, you cannot hook a phone directly to it and as this model is DSL, it would not work with comcast

i want to replace comcast voip modem
Unfortunately, you have to use the cable providers device if you also have their phone service, or purchase a cable modem that has this ability. There are a limited number of models, but I believe that Arris XFinity TG862G would do it.
