Purchased this to replace an older laptop. I was sold on the weight and transportability of this unit. When compared to my older laptop, it was missing a lot of the features I liked. It doesn't have an Ethernet connection and only has a couple USB ports. I'd rather have a bulkier unit with all the features than this slimmed down version. In my opinion you'd be better off getting an actual tablet instead of this hybrid. The hi-res screen is nice, but many programs or apps don't support that high of a resolution. Also read a lot of reviews about the screen cracking.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

is it upgradable?

What can i upgrade on this?

Hdd? Ram? Gpu? Anything other?

You can definitely upgrade the HDD and the Ram. I'm considering replacing the HDD with a SSD just to make it faster and increase battery life. The ram can also be upgraded up to 12 GB from the stock 8GB.

Doe this laptop run HOT?

Runs cool when compared to other laptops. I had an older Toshiba that runs much hotter. Also purchased and returned a Lenovo Yoga 2- it ran much much hotter than the Asus.
