I like the Echo Dot a lot. I plugged it into some old computer speakers in my master bedroom. It is great for setting wake up alarms and falling asleep to relaxing music. I have no complaints.

Just what I was looking for. Overall I like it.
There are however two things I dislike.
1: The plug backs out of the cigarrette lighter jack in my car(2014 Nissan Sentra) on it's own sometimes. It backs out just enough to cause the thing to lose connection and stop charging. It is rare but just something to keep an eye on.
2: I think that the usb port in the cigarrette lighter part itself is the only one that puts out enough amps to fast charge my Samsung Note 4. The other four USB jacks don't seem to put out as much amperage. I might be wrong, just something I noticed recently.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Do I need to purchase a separate speaker to listen to music on the dot 2nd gen? Or is the self-contained speaker adequate to listen to music (much like a radio). If that's the only reason I would purchase the dot (to sound like a radio) what is advantage
You need to plug it in(via the headphone jack) to external speakers. I think the only thing the tiny littler internal speaker is for is the chime thing that lets you know it is waiting for a command.
I used some old computer speakers for my Echo Dot. It works great with them.

Difference between a 2.0 and a 3.0 usb port
At the risk of sounding incredibly dumb, I need to know what the difference is between a 2.0 usb port and a 3.0 usb port. I THINK I have a 3.0 port on my computer but I am not sure. I also need a usb flash drive that is NOT compatible with Windows 8. Is the PNY - Turbo Plus 32GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive compatible with Windows 8?
I have this thumb drive, I use it with Windows 8 and it works fine.
USB 3.0 has faster data transfer and will charge devices like cell phones quicker than USB 2.0.
USB 3.0 devices are backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.0 devices.
