Overall, this is a good scanner. It works best in Full Auto Mode. When I tried other modes, it ran very slow or failed to work at all. So far I've scanned over a thousand photos of various size, age and quality. The scanner is fairly quick, makes nice digital copies and usually performs with no major issues. I have also tried it with slides and this works well (scans 4 at a time). When scanning photos, it works best when you scan a max of 2 photos at once. More than that and it seems to slow down the process considerably. Overall I'm satisfed, but sometimes it does have glitches: failure to separate photos, fails to scan all the photos, scans the photo as if it is bigger than the actual size (includes white at bottom of photo, but you can get around this by putting a plain white piece of paper behind the photo so it will figure out the end of the photo). I would still buy this again as it is the best scanner for the money.

Can you scan 4 or 5 small photos at the same time?

Will each photo be made into an individual file?

Does this AUTOMATICALLY separate multiple pictures that are scanned at once? Or do you have to do something after you scan multipile pics on scan bed

Yes it scans photos into separate numbered files (img001, img002, etc.). This process works most of the time, but sometimes it fails to separate them. Turning pics to a different orientation and re-scanning will usually correct the problem. Seems to work best with a max of 2 photos at once; otherwise it seems to slow down the scanning process. Scans 4 slides at once with no problems.
