At USB 3.0 is very fast both reading and writing, I used it on my MBP retina for faster transfers, also compatible with USB 2 but at lower speed of course.
I would recommend this to a friend!

how many pictures can you down load

pictures
Obviously it depends on the size of your pictures, 32 GB is enough for many normal digital camera .jpg pictures, at 3 MB each (mean size from my Nikon D90 camera...), about 10.900 pics, can be more or less depending on actual picture size and compression.
