Can I use a 3-prong plug with this dryer?

I have an older house and the outlet is only 3-prong. We want to switch from gas to electric.

Can the power be connected directly to the machine?

My current dryer has the power cable connected directly to the machine. Does this dryer need a 3 or 4 prong plug to be connected to an outlet or can the power cable be directly connected to the machine? I just need to know if I need an outlet installed.
