What's great about it: It works in a congested city location with less than ideal conditions
What's not so great: It seems expensive for a small plastic box with wires.
I cut the cable cord, which took about one month. I asked several people, including a Best Buy salesman and the Vizio customer support person, if I needed a converter box. They told me I didn't, which shows their ignorance. If your television was manufactured before June, 2009, you will need a converter box to go to antenna. The box doesn't look like much, but it works. I have most of a 22-unit apartment building between my antenna and the preferred northeast signal location, but by using a compass, I keep the antenna aimed slightly north of east through a glass door. The converter box is also warm - I have it on a ceramic plate.
I would recommend this to a friend!

would it also work with satalite dish or antenna?

I'm using it with an amplified antenna by Insignia. In fact, that's why I purchased the Insignia converter box.

Can I remove channels

My manual shows that it is possible to remove channels by entering "0" at the program line but it does not seem to work. Is it possible to remove channels from the list after completing the initial scan?
I haven't even tried. It is a clumsy approach, no doubt.

do I need RCA cables or can I use coax cable. Sound on tv will not go up.

The coaxial cable included with the converter box gave a very poor performance. I used a "yellow" cable. The sound does not seem to be as good through the antenna/converter combination. The cable connection had better sound.

Will this converter box put out a wide screen format?

My TV is an analog widescreen. It looks like the converter only outputs a 4:3 picture. Is it capable of a 16:9 output?
Mine gives a more traditional "television" look of a 4:3 picture. I like it.
