I use SanDisk exclusively since over the years I have never had one go bad. However, the standard SanDisk thumb drives are very slow. It can take up to 30 minutes to backup 8 GB of data. The SanDisk Ultra claims to be ten times faster and that does seem to be the case. So with the increase in speed and decrease in price, it is a win win. After this excellent experience, I will only purchase the SanDisk Ultra. The Utra models do not cost much more.

SanDisk are reliable but typically slow.

This is my first ultra model and I was very pleased with the speed. My older SanDisks (I have 10 or so) have taken an average of 30 minutes or more to copy 8 GB. This Ultra SanDisk seems 10 times faster as advertised.

I have bought 5 of these. It improves the speed so dramatically that it makes older computers (4 to 6 years old) seem faster than the brand new ones. Average boot time is 15 seconds and shut down is 5 seconds. They are especially good for laptops since computer movement is not good for motor driven hard drives. Many hard drives have failed from excessive movement, dropping the laptop slightly, etc. The solid state hard drives are not affected by movement.

What's great about it: Lots of space and fast
What's not so great: none
I have several of these for my personal use. Some have failed only after repeated power outages. I did not realize the age of my UPS (battery backup) and when the power went off several times, it ruined my hard drives. Otherwise they are reliable and outlast many other brands. Seagate is the premium hard drive.
I would recommend this to a friend!

My personal Seagate has lasted 3 years so far with no issues. Keep in mind please that no hard drive will last if you do not have a battery backup. (APC UPS) Power going out or moving the computer while it is running can and will ruin the hard drive.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Is it already Formatted?
No. Brand new hard drives are not formatted. The operating system will automatically do that for you. The quick format only takes a few seconds

SanDisk - Ultra 32GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive...Is this compatible with older macs (10.5.8)?
It is backward compatible. It will work with USB 2 slots.
