What's great about it: Little things like the length of the included speaker wires. The Blu-Ray drive is quick and has excellent image decodin
What's not so great: Gwt what you pay for.
This is a great system to get someone started in home theatre. A simple gaming setup would really benefit from this.
The negative side of this product is 100% rooted in audio quality. There are very very very limited controls for tone and volume settings for the individual channels, so this is a big disappointment about the system. They work, but that's about it. Often times you will have the left and right channels during big action sequences sounding several decibels louder than all the other channels and there is very little you can do to change this, so you get times where the movie you are watching is at a nice enjoyable level, only to be immediately and instantly have your ears ringing.
The speakers themselves also suffer from having a hollow resonance quality to them. Its to be expected with the price point, but it sticks out pretty bad on occasion.
Its not a bad system, though. It functions well enough to give you a decent surround sound setup if you don't have one, and for a dorm room or a simple theatre room setup, it'll get you by without much disappointment until you start thinking about upgrading.
Also, being a Sony, the Blu-Ray image decoding is excellent and you will never have a complaint about that. The breadth of included streaming apps is pretty impressive, as well, and offer fantastic image quality when given a proper connection.

Rv use
I have an rv wired for surround sound. Would this be able to broadcast tv sound over surround sound or just the dvd? Also does it have a radio? Will it work with other speakers that are already installed?
The unit has RCA connectors and an optical digital input on it, so you can use either of those (optical preferred) to connect your TV to it.
as far as the speakers, if you wanted to do some wire splicing, you could cut the quick connectors from the included speakers and attach them to the appropriate wires for your installed sound system.

Video games?
I am completely new to home theaters in a box like this. Can I hook up my Xbox or other devices to use these speakers as well?
You can using standard RCA connectors. However, it would be better to get an optical digital audio connector and just connect all devices to your TV, and then connect the optical out from your TV to this system.

Yes. It has an included antenna wire for this.

Does this blu-ray player come with a headphone port to be able to listen with headphones?
No. It unfortunately only has outputs the got directly to discrete speakers.
