This seems to be the answer to my problems. Hard woods downstairs, carpet upstairs, and carpeted stairs in-between. Having two units makes it easy to swap among floor types. and the shoulder canister is easy to use on stairs. All I need is a light to tell me when bags get full.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Tracking activity
What's not so great: Can't tell battery status until it is about to die; and can only charge on PC. which is a pain.
I like the clock and the activity tracker. Sometimes I wish I could manually enter the data the next day, because I forget to synch before I turn off PC for the night. I will not use the phone app because it demands access to my friends' info; that is an invasion of my privacy and theirs. I wish I could use the USB plug with my USB/ wall outlet adaptor; PC is not convenient at the exact moment FB says it must be charged. There are some types of activity it does not track - e.g. when I do hand weights. I think it does as good a job as can be expected - better than I thought it would.
This product has... Attractive design, Right size, Useful features, Quick reading, Easy to wear, Easy to read

does it allow carpet=height adjustments
I have thick Chinese rugs and need appropriate setting
There is a high low setting on the upright unit.
