You just plug in and it's good to go. The drivers are installed on the hard drive, so there's no drawn out installation procedure. The Toshiba hard drive is compatible with PC or Mac, and it words with USB 2.0 and 3.0. If you need more space the Toshiba is the best.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Hardware-based Encryption

Is the encryption on the drive itself or the enclosure's controller chip?
In other words, if someone were to remove the drive from the enclosure and put in in a separate enclosure, is the actual drive itself still encrypted?
As far as I can tell, yes. I use it with my laptop and PC, and I have loaned it to a friend to copy some files

What is the manufacturers warranty on this drive?

Surprised it isn't listed in drive description or specs
The warranty and an brief operation manual is included on the hard drive. There is a 2 year warranty

How to write on drive using mac?

Do I need to format it for mac? I don't need the cloud or back up or anything, I just need to save files in it.
Yes it works with Mac. A driver for Mac is on the hard drive.
