I love the Amazon TV platform and bought the stick as well as the console. In comparison it runs slower and seems to be more prone to lage and slow load up time. I would reccomend buying the console, it's worth the extra money to have less hassle and improved experience.

Bought this for my spouse who loves to read books. It also is a benefit because the tablet so much more with video, music and games. It's the little brother of my Fire 10.1 so if you prefer a tablet to fit in one hand easily then this is the one for you otherwise invest a little more for the 10.1 for better movie viewing capabilities and sound.

Can you access the local stations ABC, CBS & NBC?
You can through subscriptions. For example SlingTV offers local channels in select areas as part of their subscription.

What is the difference between the Fire Stick and Fire TV?
I have found the stick is slower. The TV has a larger built in memory I have both and I find that I have little to no issues when using the TV versus the stick. With the stick I find that it takes longer to load and sometimes experiences buffering issues, locks up and can kick me out and restat.

What is difference between a 49.00 player and 99.00 player
If you are referring to the stick versus the box, I suggest the box. I have both and I notice slower startup and occasional kick outs and locked screens with the stick. The TV has more memory which I think is why I don't have problems with buffering. Both are good but the cheaper tends to be slower.

Can this take the place of my direct tv services
It's an 9nline streaming device. You can purchase various apps like SlingTV if you are trying to go cable free but it will not work your cable in lieu of a cable box.

Prime memebership
do you have to have prime to use this tablet? we are thinking of getting prime but was wondering if you have a amazon account , can you do Facebook, netfilx and stuff or do you need prime for it to work? Thanks
You don't need a prime membership to access things like Netflix but the tablets are geared towards Amazon shopping including their apps, movies and music so to get the most out of the tablet it helps to have the membership.

Anybody buy JUST the playbar?
I am considering taking the plunge and buying a playbar, but can't afford to buy the sub right now. Is the audio quality decent enough with just the playbar to justify buying the playbar now, then buying the sub within the next couple months?
Honestly I bought the soundboard alone and it doesn't have the deep lows of a subwoofer. I ended up just spending the money and buying the Bose Cinemate 130 it has an adapter for 99 that you can buy later to do the whole home sound system thing and they have nice outdoor speakers that are compatible as well. Just thought I would share my experience as I was like you and was going to start investing in Sonos and it's a great deal of money.
