Works really well and is not loud. Only wish is that it is required to sit sideways. Had to purchase an elbow to set back to wall.

Out of the box, easy and smooth operation. I've had HP and do not like them. The back is so very hard to get off the HP. Logitech is easy.

Can the Hoover Floor Mate be used for carpet shampooing? If yes, what cleaner do you recommend?

I would not use it for that as it does not appear to be designed for it. Not sure if others have. In my estimation it does not have the type of suction as my steam cleaner does.

Is this unit to be used instead of moping and washing the floors with a mop?

Yes, I use it on a large tile area You apply the solution and the cleaner scrubs and picks up the dirty water.
