This is the perfect companion for a phone or tablet. It turns a regular TV into a Smart TV, saving yourself from all the bloatware and sloppiness of the Smart TVs. There's no reason to even think about it, because this device literally pays for itself. At this precise moment, there are two offers within the Chromecast App, offering 2-months of Hulu Plus free ($8/month), and 3-months of Google Play Music ($10/month)... Free.
The apps that support Chromecast is growing each day, but don't be mistaken. You need to have a subscription to the services in order to stream content to the Chromecast.

Don't even think about it, just buy it. For the price this is a bargain for anyone who has more than one device on top of the desk and use them all on a regular basis. The dongle is permanently on my desktop computer, and the headset is paired via Bluetooth with my laptop, my phone and my tablet, and switching devices is so seamless when you make sure to turn on the bluetooth radio on the device only when you need it. I'm not conscious as to how the headset prioritizes when more than one paired device is available, but I could assume it's related to the bluetooth settings on each device.
On a full charge, I can spend the whole day (8am-6pm) listening to some radio station and the station automatically pauses when I receive a Skype call. On my phone it works wonderfully, as it allows me to take calls without having to juggle with the phone stuck to my ear. On my tablet, I can listen to streaming apps, watch any sort of YouTube videos or Netflix/Hulu streams, make VoIP calls on any service such as Hangouts, Skype, etc.
BestBuy also offers the Logitech H600 for $20 less, and the difference is the Bluetooth. H600 only offers pairing with the dongle. And it's a HUGE difference.

I asked a question about the chrome cast working with other streaming sites but I forgot to mention that I have a Microsoft surface RT tablet and some apps like the chrome browser won't download on it. It is one thing I am disappointed with this tablet for..... pretty much the only thing really, there are other things it won't allow me to download but that is the only one o can think of that pertains to this. Would it still be ideal for me to purchase the chrome cast?
Hi! Unfortunately, though it may be confusing, Surface RT is not running full version of Windows 8, it's running a sort of Windows Mobile version. So it's more like a big Windows Phone, not quite a laptop.
Considering that: Chromecast is only compatible with Android and iOS, meaning that you won't be able to control a Chromecast with your Surface. If you happen to also have an Android (Galaxy, Nexus, HTC, LG) or an iPhone, then it's very much ideal for you to purchase the Chromecast.

Does the HDMI Streaming USB really enhance the WiFi signal to my HDTV ??
I will be purchasing a new HDTV with WiFi ready, my Wifi in the place I live has terribly low signal strength.
The Chromecast dongle is a device on it's own, it has its own WiFi radio, independant of the WiFi adapter that the new TV may have. If the Chromecast has a better range than your TV, this might be misinterpreted as "the chromecast enhancing the WiFi signal" which is not the case.
To be a cord-cutter you need a reliable WiFi connection, because the Chromecast and the phone you'll be using have to connected to the same network simultaneously in order to work. Also, with a weak WiFi signal, I'm not very confident that you'll have a seamless experience streaming content to your TV.

It means that there are some scenarios where just plugging in the cable won't be enough.
For example: Some video cards on some computers do not support screen-mirroring (duplicating the display) when you connect the second screen through the VGA port (15 pins), you'll be stuck trying to make it work and one of the screen will always be dark but it just won't happen. Regardless of the fact that the other end of the wire is an HDMI male, the source is VGA.

bluetooth connectivity
my headset is charged but when i try connecting it to my laptop, the headset icon appears for a few second and then disappears. when i turn off the headset and turn it on again, the headset icon again appears for a few seconds, enough for me to try to pair it with my laptop. But i get an error. see screenshot. how to resolve?
Hi! There are two possibilities, one of them could be related to the Bluetooth radio on your computer, which may not be configured to allow pairing with other devices.
The other possibility is that you've already paired the bluetooth headset with another device, in which case the pairing procedure varies a little. Check the box for the instructions sheet.
