Is it cheaper to print in black or color?

I have a c310a hp printer and I buy 564xl ink for it as it seems more economical. My question is:
Is it cheaper to use colored ink or print out using black ink?

Black ink cartridges usually have more ink than color cartridges and cost either the same or less than color cartridges so it is always cheaper to print in black and white.
I only print in color when I really need to have color for what I am printing, otherwise I use gray scale/black & white because it is cheaper.
