I think this is a great product overall, but several things didn't work for me. First, it made my wrist sweat too much, even when not doing physical activities. I prefer fabric bands on sports watches for times when I'm going to sweat. Second, because it is tracking movement of your arm, it does not count your steps if you're pushing a cart around a grocery store. Third, it at least doubled my actual steps when mowing the grass (vibrations maybe?), which was quite inaccurate. Fourth, I found it would have to be charged daily (who wants to do that?). And finally, after NOT wearing the device for one day, the whole thing died. It would not turn on or charge. This was within 2 weeks of purchase. I returned it and bought the FitBit One, which is simpler, more accurate, holds a charge longer and does not sit on and make my wrist sweat.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Can you use to charge an iPad mini?

Yes, as long as you have a cable with a USB end on it. The USB end is what plugs into the Mophie to charge the product.
