I own a Denon Receiver and I wanted to pick this up to utilize as a center channel with the sub for the main unit. Plus of course take advantage of the blue tooth connection from mobile devices. The sound quality is awesome but it won't function correctly with a denon receiver to utilize as a center channel only.
If all your looking for is a sound bar its an ok option.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Absolutely perfect. Since it lacks a traditional on off switch it never gets accidentally turned off like a traditional bulb does.

A great addition to our home. The bulbs are not as bright as they could be. The iOS app is a little limiting but when you pick up 3rd party apps it works great. Well worth the purchase.

Can you control volume with TV remote?

Volume can be controlled with a universal IR remote.

Does the Denon sound bar come with wall mount and everything I will need to hang it on the wall?

The wall mount for this is just screws, no the screws are not included.

do the cables needed to connect the sound bar come with it and do you need a receiver

No you don't need a receiver yes it comes with all the cables. The optical cable is kinda junky though so you may want to invest in a better one.

can you install the denon dht-s514 soundbar to a receiver instead of directly to the tv?

In theory you can but I was unable to get it to work on mine after hours of attempts. Noting that my receiver is a Denon I figured it would be easier to configure. I ended up returning mine cause of the frustration of trying to make it work.
