My Husband and I really like this carpet cleaner. It does a great job, is easy to use and isn't too heavy.

abillity to remove imbedded soil

does this "scrub" remove inbedded soil at the root of the rug fibers?
Your basic pathway cleaning comes up easily-but I would suggest if you have deep stains or something old, to pre-treat first and then use the machine.

Does pet hair get caught in the brushes?

I have a long haired cat and even after vacuuming there is still hair left on my rugs. My current machine gets it off but I have to constantly collect the strands of the wet matted fur as I go. I am looking for a new machine with better features and lighter, but am concerned about the brushes clogging.
It may if your pet has long hair, ours is a short-hair domestic cat. It was no problem to clean out.

Does this come with the powered hand tool?

Yes this is the deluxe model and it comes with a kit (bag with attachments) For the money it is a really good deal.

Does it have surround Suction & how dry doe's it leave the carpet

The suction is as wide as the cleaner head. If you go back over the area a few times after wetting, it does a good job of pulling it out of the carpet. I have not tried it on shag-just standard carpet.
