WD has always been my source for hard drives every since my first 750Mb drive I purchased in 1992. Since that time, I have only had 1 actual failure, but I have had some start to get weak and make noise, then I replace as soon as possible. My computer I use for gaming and raw music recording is a desktop WinXP system (yep, I can't let it go). It runs 24 hours a day unless I have some need to reboot. I use dual WD drives and copy the contents of C to D and D to C. That way a failure of either will allow me to restore data. I know everyone has their favorite and has horror stories of different drives, but for my use, Western digital has not failed me. Also included is the Acronis True Image software to clone the data over. I have about 500GB and it clones within 10 min. Extremely fast process. I also keep a third drive that is a fresh install in case a virus hits, I can wipe it and clone from a fresh source. Great drive.
I would recommend this to a friend!

replace hardrive for HP 2000-2c29WM?

I was wondering if this will be able to replace my old hard drive in my HP2000-2c29WM laptop? I looked and the hard drive that it is using at the moment is ATA with 500 GB and is running on 5400 RM. I am not a tech person so I'm not sure which hard drive fto buy for my Laptop. I want something that have lots of space and is fast. Any suggestion would be fine. Thanks!!
The trick is the type of drive. This is a SATA drive, so you will need to locate an ATA drive, which best By still sells I'm sure. An ATA drive has the long connector with 2 rows of holes and the middle has a single hole.

A SATA drive has 2 cables that may be joined, but it is a single row of pins and very narrow that plugs into 2 places in the back of the drive.

Hope that helps.

Would this work in a hp pavilion p6714y desk top

Absolutely it will work. The format of a drive is what determines the compatibility. Since Windows is formatted as NTFS, the drive will be compatible. As long as you have a bay to connect it into, you can use the drive.
