can an 61 black ink cartridge dry out when not used?
I left both color & black ink cartridges in an Envy 5530 for a period of 6 months +/- of no use . When trying to print, the color ink was fine, but the black ink cartridge acted as if empty. The printer check showed the ink level as fine.
Although there may still be liquid ink in the cartridge, the microscopic jets can dry and plug up. SOMETIMES (as in pretty rarely), cleaning with pure ethanol and then allowing the surface to dry, followed by a print head cleaning and recalibration by the printer, will work. And sometimes the plug can't be budged.
