Can the V550 scan 11" x 17" ?

Not at all - it will do 8.5x11 only. But you could manually combine two images - I've done it to scan an 8.5x14 form

is there a way to dATE THE PHOTOS when they were orginly taken?

I'd do it by assigning file names that include the date, or editing filenames later.

Can you scan 4 or 5 small photos at the same time?

Will each photo be made into an individual file?

Yes, you have to 'draw' a box around each image and click the 'All' button. Plus, the images all have to be similar - color or B&W but not a mix to run quickly.

it easily scans slides, mounted or unmounted - and negatives up to 6x7

Does this AUTOMATICALLY separate multiple pictures that are scanned at once? Or do you have to do something after you scan multipile pics on scan bed

You have to draw a box around the images and click on the "All" button, but yes, it will scan and separate multiple images. But they all have to be similar color or B&W, as far as I've discovered so far.

Is this compatible with a MAC?

Very compatible - and fast, at least on my MBPro
