What's great about it: Looks, Features, Size
What's not so great: Can't get a half-gallon milk/juice bottle in the door or shelf (except sideways!)
I bought this fridge to replace another little Frigidaire (secondary in the den) that had conked out after a year. The two-door style was what I was looking for as I didn't always want to open the fridge for something in the freezer. Alas, this wasn't any better--the freezer barely kept anything frozen and the fridge, even on the coldest setting, wouldn't get below 50 degrees. Nothing could be stored with safety. Best Buy was outstanding in their customer service and refunded me all monies. The item may not have lived up to my expectations but the store certainly did. I will always be back to them for ANYTHING dealing with appliances or electronics.

What's great about it: Easy to use; holds twice my hard drive; totally compatible with Time Machine
What's not so great: Short life (last Passport made it just 2 years)
I had a previous WD Passport for my Mac but it recently went to that Great Land of Microchips in the Sky. I bought this as a replacement and have been very happy with it. It is FAR quieter than it's predecessor and is happy just being in the background, doing it's "thing". My Mac hard drive is 500GB and this is 1TB. I have a desktop WD 3TB for full backups (actually I have two--my iTunes library is rather LARGE!!) but this is great for daily use. You can't go wrong with it!
This product has... Reliable, Fast, Attractive design/portable, Quiet, Large capacity/good size
About me... Budget Conscious, Need a simple backup solution
I would recommend this to a friend!

Manual defrost?

What does "manual defrost" mean? Will I be chipping away at a block of ice that grows in the freezer every few months?
"Manual" means you have to physically turn it off and remove the built-up frost in the freezer. If you keep an eye on the freezer and get to it before it gets really thick and solid it's not so bad. They give you a little scraper to help but I just turned it off, set a folded up bath towel inside, pushed the door shut and all was taken care of in about an hour. Any ice loosens and falls onto the towel (which is absorbent for liquids melting) and it very easy. Remember to also put a folded towels in front of the unti for any stray drips.

Can the door be adjusted to open from the left OR right?

No adjustments--hinges on right side only (for both doors).

Based upon it's structure and materials I wouldn't suggest it!

How cold can freezer be kept?

We are a small medical office and have one type of vaccine that needs to be kept under 5 degrees at all times. Will this unit be able to do that? If not, is there another smaller size unit with separate freezer compartment that would be able to keep our vaccine at that temperature or lower? (there is not a low temp limit)

This is the smallest model with a separate freezer door (by Frigidaire anyways). I couldn't get it below basic freezing (soft ice cream) so had to return it).

Is there free removal of the old compact refrigerator?

No, you will have to get it back to the store by yourself but, once there, someone will take it out of your vehicle and into the store for you.
