Best digital camcorder?
I am looking for a digital camcorder..not HD... that gives good video in high light and low light has good digital zoom capability and great sound...which one do I buy?
Oh my, not asking for too much. Digital zoom alone - I'd strongly recommend visiting a Best Buy store and talk to sales people, try some out, if you can. There could be problems with the images when the Digital zoom is used at the extreme telephoto range. if at all possible, you want to evaluate price/ features with some on-hand experience before you buy. Now as to the rest: it is not easy to come up with hard and fast rules to follow. There are any number of websites, such Cnet & http://www.dpreview.com that can help you get started, but you should forthrightly educate yourself before you buy. High light levels can be "handled" by using high ISO settings, and high-numbered f-stop settings. Low light capability will be limited by the smallest numbered f-stop setting of the lens and the characteristics of the video chip. But nothing is perfect, there are trade-offs, even in the really high-priced categories.
