Can I download pictures from an old PC onto the flash drive and then download them to an iMac?
You can if the drive is formatted for both. To do that, back up the drive and follow these instructions:
Launch the "Disk Utility" program on your Mac and click "Erase"
Under the format options, choose "MS-DOS (FAT)"
The drive should be able to transfer any file under 4 gigs in both directions.

I've read the q & a's and it says it works on a Mac Book Air but my question is will it work on an i-Mac? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.......
