Scans well, the film scanning was real good. But the cover to the film strip holder is thin and delicate, which broke in a few months of scanning film. That is NOT covered under warranty with Epson! You have to buy it again from another party. I doubt the replacement will last any longer. So if you want to scan a lot of film strips, beware!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I am wondering how this scanner does with artwork. I’m looking to scan artwork into digital format for prints. Does anyone have experience with that? I guess it is decent due to the fact that it is good with photos. I often use dark paper so concerned.

I scan antique ancestor photos with this scanner and the detail is super even at 2400 & 3200dpi (dots per inch) and it goes up to 12800dpi. It will be real good for artwork scanning.
