I ordered two of these drives. The first arrived in the original box with two cables. The drive looked to be physically in excellent condition. When I plugged it in, it was not immediately set up in my Windows 11 computer. I went into Disk Management and found it had not been initialized. I initialized it and formatted it to NTFS. The computer then saw it and I was able to run speed tests. The results were slow. I tried the other cable and also got slow speeds, but different from the first cable. I then tried a cable of my own, and finally obtained the expected speed of 1000 MB/s. I then used the free software Samsung Magician on the drive. It showed the firmware of the drive was old, and allowed me to update to the most current firmware. I then used Samsung Magician to run a full diagnostic scan of the drive. It took 3 hours, but reported that zero sectors were bad. I have good confidence in this drive, and would have given this product five stars but for my experience with the second drive.
The second drive arrived a couple days later, from a different location in the US. It was not in the original box, but was nicely packaged. Like the first, it looked to be in excellent physical condition. It also came with two cables. I tried each of them on the previous drive, and only one gave the expected results. So of the four cables I received, only one worked properly. Like the first drive, this drive needed to be initialized. I did so, but could not format it. I spent several days and finally cleared the drive, initialized it, and then did a quick format. I then used Samsung Magician to do a full diagnostic scan of the drive. The first time it ran for 15 hours and crashed after having only 60% of the drive - I suspect it overheated. At that point it showed that 4% of the sectors were bad. I restarted the scan the next day. It completed and showed that 7% of the sectors had been bad. I believe that the bad sectors would now be avoided by the system after having been identified. I ran speed tests, and got the expected results. However, after this experience I will no longer purchase Certified Refurbished portable SSDs and am unable to recommend them to any one.

This is a reliable SATA drive providing high capacity storage in a 2.5 inch drive. It provides respectable speeds for a wide range of file types. I am using this to catalog 100 years of family photos that I have been painstakingly digitizing. When you run out of NVMe slots, most computers still have SATA ports you can make use of. This drive is an excellent choice for one of those ports. I highly recommend it.

This is an important accessory for my laptop. It provides four high speed additional ports. It is plug and play. It comes from UGREEN, a company known for reliability - I have many of their cable products. The separation between the ports allows all four of the ports to be accessible. It will easily fit into even the smallest pocket of a laptop sleeve (or bag). I reformatted the drive from the exFAT it comes with to NTFS, and then performed some speed tests. I connected it to a fast USB-C port on my computer and obtained a speed of ~1000MB/s, consistent with what most others have found. This is fine for my needs. I use this drive to make backups of my laptop. I highly recommend this drive!
