Do I need a technician to set this laptop up. I'm not super technical but my previous laptop was a Lenovo. And I just do the basics. No games or stuff like that. Just email and favorite websites.
My sister has little tech skills, and she had no difficulty setting this laptop up. You should be fine. Just be sure to have your wifi id and password ready, as well as your Microsoft account id and password.

How long does battery stay charged
It will depend on how the laptop is being used, and on the power settings used. If you run it with the display screen at max brightness, you will run the battery out faster than if the screen is run at half brightness. If you are streaming movies you will use up the battery faster than if you are just reading emails or working on a simple document. The number given by the manufacturer is probably what is obtained under optimal conditions.

Can I add an external hard drive for more storage????
There are two very fast ports on this laptop that you can attach an external drive to. One option that is very convenient is to add a tiny button drive, often called a FIT drive. This laptop can really only handle very simple games, that do not demand much processing power or much in the ways of graphics.

The usb-c port on this laptop does not support display-out. But you can use the included hdmi port to do that.
