This Depends on the speed of your network.. Ie. how fast / what Tier are you paying for from your broadband provider. ie. if you only have 20 Mbps , you can't do much to help it. but if you had over 100Mbps coming from the provider and you are only getting 5Mbps then you have a signal issue with your wifi.
1. find out the connection speed you are paying for
2. Go To fast.com and do a speed test , see how close a wired computer gets to this speed. ie if you are paying for 100 Mbps , the wired pc will probably see around 100.
3. then test your laptop (or test laptop wired/wireless)
4. if its the router get a new router. if its a old 802.11g router , then upgrading that alone will do wonders.
