Yes, this cable is the proper cable to connect your Comcast cable box to your Sony OLED TV. Calling Comcast for a new cable box is not necessary. However, I always try to make sure that I have the most up to date cable box offered by Comcast based on the service that I am paying for currently. You might find that Comcast has a newer, more up to date cable box available that will be much better and not increase your current cable bill.
