This monument to engineering wet dreams should have been shelved right along with that other beauty the ORBI. ORBI and VELOP should get married, and then go on a long honeymoon together. I know the kook squad or geeksters can stand up for them. These guys want a hundred bucks to help you install hardware that is plug and play right out of the box. They even make you wait on hold for 23 minutes to confirm you were an idiot for buying an overpriced product in the first place.
The VELOP was supposed to be better than the ORBI. Well golly it works, but it denigrates an already garbage system from AT&T. Download and upload speeds did not get better, THEY GOT WORSE!!!

This is the stupidest smart switch I have ever encountered. Tactile feedback is absolutely non-existent. Dimming is a complete joke, as you get down below 30% you are treated to a flashing light show. Installation is relatively straight forward, but you better be sure you know what a white or neutral wire means, and that you can identify and have one present.
Most of the problem comes from the fact that Best Buy is NOT consistent in providing stocking levels that are consistent with market demands for smart home lighting requirements. Phillips Hue follows the ZigBee protocol, and the choice, and inventory control can only be described as poor to abysmal. They force customers to look elsewhere for solutions adding time, and frustration for the customers, and lost revenues for them.
To say that this TP-Link thing is and was a disaster is to say the least. I don’t even have the heart to pull this thing out right now. I will find the correct solution and then pull out the TP-Link. I then will pack it up and send it to the CEO of Best Buy with a lengthy explanation as to why I won’t be doing any further shopping in their chain.

This deal is almost to good to be true. Go figure, the bulbs on average are $50 ea,, and there’s 3 of them, the wireless 4 position dimmer switch is $25 ea., and the hub (which is the heart of the system) is $60. You do the math. The Phillips Hue app is really very good, and the other one is callHue dynamic.
Overall the system is super complete with indoor and outdoor sensors, wireless switch, outdoor fixtures, outdoor lights. In short it is a very complete lighting system.

What is the difference between this model that says CA only in the description compared to the other model?
We’ Going to have to look in a different wheelhouse. I can’t even imagine what it could be other then the environment, or land fill issues, or PG & E or SoCal are upset that it is to dang efficient. This is after all the land of milk and honey...and fruits and nuts!!!!!

Can you install this in a 3/4” box? I had to fir strip my basement interior wall and can only use 3/4” box now.
Stick it on the wall, remove the baseplate, screw it to the wall....one things for sure, it don’t need no stinking box. OR, it’s even magnetic on the back, so stick it on the refrigerator. Pop out the actual remote, and carry it around in your pocket.
