Works with Win 10 out of the box, and my old trackball did not, which is why I replaced it. It appears you must download some software to take advantage of more features--these should have been included in the package for those of us without internet access. On/off switch (battery saver) is awkward. But nice not to be messing around with a cable!
I would recommend this to a friend!

What type of battery does this use? Is it rechargeable or just replace battery as needed? What is battery life?

One AA battery. Rechargeable? Not sure what you mean--it doesn't recharge in the trackball. Don't know lifetime--but there is a lo-battery indicator light on unit. I was told to turn trackball off when not using it to extend battery life.

I have an M570 Trackball. What are the 2 buttons on the edge to the left of your index finger for? Thank you. Milt Peacock

The two buttons can be programmed to do just about anything. There is some software you need for this that does not seem to be included with the trackball. I forget the name, but Google the trackball and you will be able to find it and see where you can download it (probably the Logitec site)--I think it is free. I haven't bothered with ir yet.
