The core specs in the product description are what attracted me to this computer. It's on-sale price sold me on it. Overall, I am satisfied with the purchase. I feel I got what I paid for, but not a penny more. Three "shortcuts" that I've found are:
1) low-quality speakers - impossible to listen to music at any volume, or speech at full volume without buzzy distortion.
2) no keyboard backlighting was in the product description. However, without backlighting the font for the keyboard keys should have been bigger, bolder, and brighter white. In evening room light, or on a cloudy day, it's hard to see what's on the keys. I have to tilt the screen down to illuminate the keyboard, or turn up the room lamps to bright.
3) no lights for "computer on" or "drive active." When turning off the computer, there's no confirmation that it's fully shut down. The only light is by the power cord - white for battery charging - off when the battery is fully charged.

The keyboard on my 5-year old laptop has trouble with "e", so I needed an alternate way to type, and decided on the Logitech K400+. I'm using it now to write this review. It's lightweight, so I'm still learning how to use it on my lap. If I wanted to do any extensive typing, I would need to sit at a desk, and have this keyboard on a solid, stable surface.

I'm digitizing old pictures (prints, slides, negative), both to allow easy access, and to reduce clutter by throwing away old prints and photo envelopes. For me the Epson Perfection V600 has been a great choice. It handles all my different media. If the pictures are faded the software can recolorize them so that they look fresh. My pictures look good as 4x6 prints, but they probably do not have the fine resolution for enlarging to poster size. (They were were taken with point and shoot cameras, or an SLR with the low-end zoom lens that came with the camera). So there was no reason for me to pay a higher price for a better quality scanner. Scanning negatives at 800 dpi yields images that show all the details that are visible in the original prints. Increasing to 1200 dpi does not improve the result. (I'll test higher dpi again if I ever find my old Kodachrome slides taken with a better-quality fixed focus lens.)
It takes about a half hour to scan a set of 8 negatives. (It will take months to finish my project.) But since the process runs automatically, you can do other things while the scanner is scanning.
I'm using a PC with Windows 10, and the software works smoothly.
In short, I'm glad I bought this scanner. It does what I want it to do, and does it with good quality.

Can I buy an external cd/dvd drive to plug into this to listen to cds and watch dvd movies?

Yes, this computer has USB ports, so a USB external disc drive will work. I just tested a music CD and a DVD with my USB disc drive, and both played.
Depending on your file types, if the player that comes with the computer doesn't work for your movies, you may need to download a different media player.

How do you turn on the sound

From the keyboard:
top row of keys (press the key directly, don't press fn and the key)
F1 = mute/unmute
F2 = decrease sound
F3 = increase sound
In Settings:

I have about 50-75 2.5" x 4.25" negatives. Will the "Epson - Perfection V600 Photo Scanner - Black" accommodate this size? They are from the 1920s-1950s.

The large format holder is designed for 60 mm film (around 2 3/8 inches). 2.5 inches would be too wide to fit between the guide rails. The rails are about 1 mm tall. I don't know what would happen if you tried to lay your negative on top of the guide rails. (For example, would the software "see" the negative and allow for scanning; would the negative be in focus?)
