Great wireless rear speaker conversion! I was always interested in going wireless but just never did. I'm upping my 5.1 to a 7.1. All the other speakers are wired. I just bought some 40w bookshelf speakers and a pair of stands to put right behind the sectional since I figured using my heavy duty Klipsch bookshelf speakers would be wasted on this item. At first the sound didn't work and I thought "O crap this is going to be a research project to get them to work" but I noticed the receiver on this unit that wires into the rear speakers has a volume turn switch and they started working right away.
I think the rear speakers sound great. I understand there is going to be sacrifice when going from wired to wireless. I just wanted the "essences" of sound using this wireless conversion kit because it is accompanied by 5.1 Klipsch speakers and a JBL subwoofer. Even without these, I think the wireless conversion kit would work well.
The wireless conversion kit uses 2.4 Ghz. I haven't noticed any interference or strange noises coming from the speakers. Let me add that we have close neighbors and plenty of 2.4 Ghz wireless signals in my living room. The wireless conversion kit has worked like a charm.
When playing my PS4, it's really cool walking in front of something and hearing the sound move towards the rear speakers. I haven't watched a movie yet but I'm sure it will sound great. Also, just watching TV sounds better than before. I would recommend these to anyone.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Does this device work with passive rear speaker? Or powered speakers only?

I use passive speakers (no plug) and they sound great. Be aware that this kit is 2x40 watts and the wireless transmitter and receiver both need to be plugged into a power outlet. So if you have heavy duty speakers higher than 40 watts, they probably will work with this kit but you won't get as much kick as if you wired them. I just bought a pair of 40W bookshelf speakers and stands and the wireless conversion kit does a good job with them.
