Much better than another item from another manufacturer, it is the perfect balance between price and quality or features. On Zoom meetings I have received compliments that my audio is much superior than my other webcam.
The video is sharp and clear, beautiful colors too!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Can I disable the mic and just use the camera?

It depends on the app you are using some have audio settings where you can disable the audio. You can do this on Zoom.

how difficult is this to connect to a mac

Not difficult at all if you have a USB port, if not I don't know, you would need some sort of adapter.
