Purchased Microsoft Office so that wifey could still use Word, Excel, etc. on her new MacBook Pro since she was still trying to get use to the Mac. Always had and worked with PC’s all the time. This office package really helped her out and she was happy knowing she still could function on what she was used to but on a Mac now.

will this device be sufficient to enable 2 computers access to one printer via ethernet cables?

Yes this should work fine. One port is connected to your router to gain access to internet then you have 4 available ports to connect devices on same network via ethernet. Both computers and printer and still have a port left for another device in future. Now that all devices are on same network they will be able to find each other or communicate so you have access to use all together. Hope this helps.
