The Logitech MX master 3 for Mac is the gold standard if you want to upgrade from a standard 2-3 button mouse or Apple’s own Mighty Mouse. This mouse has two scroll wheels, several buttons that are all completely mappable and customizable for anything you can imagine. The Logi software even allows for app-specific button assignments. It’s very curvy and ergonomic. Your thumb rest right on two slim buttons that by default are set to forward/back buttons for your web browser. That alone makes this mouse really convenient to use. The top scroll wheel has some voodoo magic that changes the scroll action from clicky scrolling to a free-spinning but weighted flywheel spinning action based on how fast you spin the top wheel. The clicking can also be changed by simply pressing the button next to the top scroll wheel. The top wheel can also be clicked straight down (not scrolled) for yet another clicking action. There’s another side scroll wheel that is located where your thumb would rest next to the front/back buttons. It has a very fine and smooth mouse pointer movement and feels like a very well-made product with a great app for customizing all the buttons. While it does have lots of buttons, it’s never overwhelming or hard to remember. It also looks great next to my space-grey apple keyboard. It’s a little pricey but is extremely useful and really well made.

This is a very versatile and handy product if you know how to use it. It’s most popular with Twitch users who use it to generate brb screens or other effects and sounds while they’re broadcasting. It’s also good for keyboard shortcuts that can be used with any app that has shortcuts that can be input through a keyboard. I use it for video editing with Davinci Resolve and photo editing on Lightroom. The keys can also be nested into folders. For example, I have sounds mapped to some of the keys inside a “Sounds” folder for canned applause, DJ horn, ding sounds, etc. I use it even just to launch my most often-used apps and anything else that I dream up. it’s uses are only limited by your creativity.

Nice Camera with great video, great focusing featuring Canon's magic Dual Pixel Auto Focus which always finds your subjects face and keeps videos constantly in proper focus. This little guy plugs into a wall outlet and provides additional range for your ring doorbell plus it's also a chime for your doorbell as well. Pretty smart. Ring makes a unit that is only a doorbell chime in case you don't need the range extender but it's smart that they combined the ringer and extender in one unit. Oh, also this unit can alert you not only for doorbell rings but also for motion. Both alerts can also be turned off individually, making it just an extender. In my case, it extended my network about 20-25 feet which turned out to be just enough. Not hard to configure as long as you're within the working range. If it's not working, more than likely, you're out of range from your router.

This 10" smart display has a magic screen that can be set to compensate for color temperature (white balance) in the ambient light which magically makes the photos being displayed look like actual paper photos. It's a brilliant idea that Facebook has already copied on their new Portal. The speakers sound good enough on their own, but it can stream to any Chromecast device to include my Sony surround speakers and TV. It actually can play to external speakers with or without the device speakers playing. The "not-Nest" camera can follow you around the room and recognize your face and tailor the content to the face that it recognizes. True to form, this device won't work with the Ring Video Doorbell (although BestBuy says that it does) other than being able to "see" it and enable/disable motion detection and record from the doorbell but it won't show the recordings on the Nest Hub Max display! There's no useful connectivity, ie video/audio streaming or speaking to visitors. Apparently, this is for no other reason than the Ring Doorbells are in direct competition with the Nest products which cost THREE times as much! Pretty petty that these huge companies put us little consumers in the middle of their dumb disputes. Also, there's a major configuration problem with Comcast/Xfinity Wifi. Once you make the changes in your router it will work forever without a problem but, at the time, it seems like something is wrong with the Nest Hub Max but in fact, it's a network problem.

This is the original Ring doorbell which is about 4-5 years old now. If you want just a reliable doorbell, this is a good choice especially when you consider that pretty much every other video doorbell costs 2-3 times as much. It has 720p video which is less than great but you can see pretty clearly who's at your door. The battery is not removable so you have to remove the unit to charge it. The new Ring model has a removable battery and better 1080p video but costs TWICE as much. It's fairly easy to configure as long as you have a decent Wifi signal. Any problems I had configuring it ended up being due to Wifi, not the Ring. This doorbell is NOT compatible with Google Nest Hubs but works well with Alexa and Echo. Google devices can connect to the Ring, but it won't show you video or give any alerts. Best Buy says it's compatible.

This is a full-frame (EF vs EF-S) lens that will work on Canon DSLRs or mirrorless with an adapter. It's relatively inexpensive, has a bright aperture of f1.8 so it's good in low light and the 50mm focal length is good for general photography and portraiture.

In my research of a refrigerator, I decided that the best configuration would be French doors with a single drawer freezer on the bottom. I didn't like the silly big touchscreens that we got tired of using after 10 minutes or so in the store. I didn't like the doors that have a "flap" that allows access to drinks or other items in the right-hand door. It makes the door unnecessarily complex and looks like it would fall apart or leak cold air at some point. I don't like the center drawer because it makes the main "chamber" of the fridge very small. Ok, so here's why I really like this fridge: It is a 2019 model with MUCH improved fingerprint-resistance. NOTHING sticks to the surface at all. Everything wipes off perfectly. The freezer has a dedicated slot for large boxes like frozen pizza or waffles. The freezer also has a second drawer. There's also an option for a second icemaker if you need lots of ice. The ice maker keeps up with our family of four with no problem (relatively quiet when dumping the ice also). The refrigerator section is really intelligently laid out and has a really useful wide drawer for large items, shelves that changeable for depth, allowing tall containers in the main section. Also, in this 2019 model, there's a center beverage drawer that holds soda cans or juice boxes perfectly, keeping them out of the way. They also changed the configuration of the ice-maker, taking it out of the main fridge and placing it completely in the left door. I keep emphasizing "the 2019 model" because the previous model of this fridge didn't have the smart storage configuration, better fingerprint resistance, better ice maker, etc. Also in my research, I heard horror stories about Samsungs having not only an unacceptable failure rate but hard to get parts that have to be shipped from Korea. I also noticed that lot's of these fridge's are are sold as different brand names and dressed up differently with different branding. Anyway, this fridge has been great! It's quiet, cools down perfectly, and is really useful for storing lots of food while still offering easy access to everything inside.
