This thing is a monster. Sounds good with my 4k blu-ray movies, games and music when I set my google home to play on all my speakers.
Make sure if you mount it under a tv that unit is at least 1" in front of from the tv. Even keeping the top speakers partially covered or close to the tv will ruin it's capabilities.

Does the paste harden as it dries, remain paste, or liquify slightly with heat?
It basically turned to a liquid on my CPU. Also causes my CPU to hit it's thermal limit all the time. With a water cooler and better fans (higher pressure and more cfm) I couldn't play the same games I could before swapping CPUs. Not recommended unless you plan on cleaning up a lot and changing it out.

Can I use this to display my xbox on my iMac?
This is to connect Displayport-out to HDMI-in. Your iMac displayport connection is an output.
If you are trying to connect to a monitor, then this will not work. the HDMI cable has to go to the display, the Displayport connection has to connect to the video source.
