The only reason I gave it 4 stars was that the included URL for download did not work and had to call support. They said that it was down and was being fixed. Because of back pain, I cannot walk long distances. I get most of my exercise on a recumbent bicycle. Can the fitbit be set to measure my activity in this manner?
It will track activity on a bicycle as steps. There may be a delay in the steps being added the same as if you were marching in place.

You can absolutely back up whatever folders you wish and copy them to another machine. It does work with Windows 8.1. I am not familiar with Mac's but I would like to think a Mac could handle something as simple as adding a file.

I do not want to get stuck with Windows 8. Are there any desktops that have Windows 7 loaded?
There are still computers out there that come with Windows 7. I have purchased a couple through the Best Buy Marketplace. Dell also offers Windows 7 through their website. If you do end up buying Windows 8, make sure it is 8 and not 8.1. Windows 8.1 is absolutely horrible.

It is possible to get your files off the old hard drive. Not sure what the Geek Squad would charge for this. I have used a local computer guy to do this for me in the past and it ran around $75.00. Hope this helps some.

I currently have Windows Vista...can it be successfully transferred to Windows 8
You can purchase an upgrade to go from Vista to Windows 8. Simple to install. Just make sure you back up all of your files before trying this.

If I purchase a Dell Inspiron 7000 from you can I get it with Windows 7 instead of 8?
Unfortunately, Windows 7 is becoming harder and harder to come by. This computer does not available with /Windows 7. if you can find a copy, you can install the operating system though I do not recommend it. Windows 8 can be a bit of a challenge at first but hang in there and you will get it. Half the fun of Windows 8 is the touch screen.
