This laptop is pretty decent for College School work. It's quick enough for web browsing and word processing. It could be faster with a SSD, but at the price point, you're probably not going to find one with a SSD. Just upgrade it. 6 GB of RAM is better than 4 as well, so that's a bonus.

This cools a room pretty well in the Summer in San Jose, CA. It's noticeably cooler when running this. However, I ran this overnight, and the storage tank for the water was full and it shut off. You'll need to drain it sometimes. I believe the dual hose feature helps it be efficient.
