Great receiver, would recommend

Great receiver, but it better be for the price, right? I replaced my Yamaha RX-A3020 that got fried from lightning earlier in the season. This is a step down from that, but still quite good. My setup: 7.2 (subs are in front/back setup) in main room, 1 hdmi to another zone, 2 speakers in another room, 2 speakers outside. All speakers in all zones, including outside, are Polk Audio. Subs are 1 sony and 1 klipsch. Exactly like the rx-a3020, the receiver and all zones can be controlled via the remote or the Yamaha app. The app is very nice, especially when outside and controlling the device without having to go back inside. This receiver, unlike the rx-a3020 has a wireless antenna. That setup was nice and easy. Another nice feature that this has that the old one didn't -- you can send digital audio to other zones. Previously, with Chromecast Audio, I could only send L/R RCA to other zones. I am now able to use the digital audio out on Chromecast Audio for extra performance in the other zones. What this doesn't have that is a little annoying is a usb port on the back. Has one on the front under the flap, but not the back. As a result, I am using another power receptacle for the Chromecast's power adapter. Overall, though, the minor inconvenience of the lack of rear usb is not enough to deduct stars from my review. Very pleased with the performance. Whole house shakes during music and movies, what else is there to need?

I'm pleased with what the protection covers (power surges, etc) that manufacturer's warranty won't cover. It bugs me that the warranty starts the day it's ordered, not received, but hopefully that won't be an issue if anything ever goes wrong. Hope to not need it, but good to know it's there.

Great choice for non-smart tv

This is the second time I've purchased this exact same model from Best Buy. Have one in the bedroom and now one in the family room. Perfect size for both spaces, crystal clear picture, lightweight but heavy enough to sit on the base without wobble, and most important, it has the old style of base instead of those silly feet out on the edges. Another feature I have enabled, on the bedroom one, is auto turn on and auto turn off timers for weekday mornings (can disable for weekends). Only thing I don't like about the auto-on is that you can only use cable source, but it works well nonetheless. Has a USB port on the back, so I have a Chromecast in one of the two hdmi and it's powered by the TV. Given I have two now, I'd definitely recommend.

While only 720, at this size, it's unnecessary to get 1080p. The picture is crisp and clear from hdmi sources. Bought this for my parents and they're more than pleased with the ease of setup and simple remote interface. Would recommend to others.
