Mighty performance in a small package

I seem to have an obsession with messing around with portable bluetooth speakers, but I cant seem to find one that really stood out.
These little monsters can fill quite a nice niche and are loaded with features.
Hold on to your ipods, grab your zunes, you can listen all day to your favorite tunes (I just died a little inside)
In all seriousness, I was really, really impressed with the sound it made considering the price, and the size. Audio was clear, distortion is minimal at max volume or close to it. Bass performance is very good considering its side, and passive rear radiators. It does believe it or not, have true stereo sound and noticeable separation.
Next on the list of impressive features,
30 Hours of rated Battery Life.
Just let that sink in for a minute, its gonna be hard to find that in any speaker.
Very well done, like seriously, that's a respectable, USABLE, battery life. I tend to use one of these for an alarm clock by pairing it to my phone and using the pandora alarm clock setting to play a station at max volume. (the people I live with love me).

Lastly, rubber contrsuction, and a 3.5mm aux jack and top mounted controls round out the features. No complaints here, all should be standard, and are.
There you have it, for $50 or fairly regularly $25 on sale, these things are excellent gifts, or seed them through your house with Chromecast Audios for killer multiroom audio on the cheap.
Just remember, they aren't gonna make you ditch your $200+ Sonos speakers. They're just really, really, good $25 speakers.

Yes, shocker there. This guy does the trick for connecting new equipment to an old receiver with no auxiliary inputs. This and a Chromecast Audio and now I have a Wifi Streaming capable reciever or I can connect a bluetooth adapter or anything else with a 3.5mm output.

Very surprised at the level of light this thing gives off. For the price, I just had to try it (you can never have too many flashlights). I was very pleased with the performance and my Dad quickly wanted his own seeing how well it illuminated the backyard.
I'm really quite surprised that more companies don't have a freely moving head that can slide in and out to quickly change the focus. Its very handy and takes much less time than cranking the head on a maglite.
Construction seems quite nice, but the biggest issue is the switch, I have killed a few switches so far, but I'm not friendly to flashlights, I believe they are meant to be used.
If only the switch was a little more robust itd be a perfect everyday light for camping, backpacking or vehicle usage, but I think I might have to relegate it to emergency purposes around the house where it still shines.
Battery life with the included C cells is impressive and hasn't required a change yet.
The newly revisioned Insignia flashlight uses an endcap switch that is much more protected, but is slightly less bright and uses AAs instead. Time will tell if the durability upgrade and downgrade in battery performance is worth it.

Who likes short cables and being tethered to walls, I certainly don't. These cables have been insturmental in keeping various things charged in hard to get places.
I have several of these strategically placed to keep chromecast audios live and jamming and one powering an old cellphone as an alarm clock in a hard to reach place.
They easily deliver 1.2amps or 1200mah (however you want to look at it) and will provide a very suitable amount of power to fast charging devices or power hungry accessories. Build quality is pretty great as well.

Have a particularly strange setup for gaming, with an hdtv and an aging steelseries mat.
Started looking for a new mousepad and something a little prettier to look at. Came across this monster for the reasonable price that it was a figured why not. I really, really like it now. It gives me space to control multiple mice and house my keyboard comfortably and gives a really nice look to my desk. The material seems thick and resistant to cuts, no stains yet to report. Mouse tracking has been excellent for my razer taipian.
Linus Tech Tips blew me away with the monstrosity of a mat they recently reviewed, now I don't feel so out of place.

All systems are go here Cap'n. This thing has a serious amount of juice and keeps things going when its needed. First one sits in my bag to keep my tablet and phone charged if needed during class or travelling. My tablet is what I used to take notes on and is a must for my college classes.
Couple things Ive found from usage:
- This guy seems to live up to the numbers on the box, My note 3 reports it hits its max input of 1.8A charging using the supplied, but hardly used short micro B cable. (cool but I have a longer one, dont skimp get a good cable to keep fast charging).
- The brick you use to charge this thing will be very important, cheapo gas station bricks will take forever as they will do around 500mah, you do the math on a 20,800mah power pack. Your stock phone charger should do the trick, the rocketfish platinums are a great alternative.
- Not sure if this supports quick charge, but neither does my phone from my understanding (usb 3.0 is just crazy like that.)
- durability has yet to be tested, I don't plan on slamming my investment on the pavement, but durability does not seem to be a problem especially at this price point. Many much more expensive chargers cant take much anyways before they quit as well.

In terms of performance, it took two of these to last a group of 8 people with cellphones and one tablet to drain one pack and start on the second over the week we spent camping. Not too shabby.

Well its summer, why else would I buy a fan, and taking a look at what was offered, this seemed to be a good starting point. I've always liked the retro look of older fans and this definitely fits the bill in the home of someone who likes silver/greyscale items. Most importantly, it actually performs as well as it looks. It pushes a serious amount of air and easily cools my room to the point of having to barely aim it at me to achieve the cooling I want.

High Res Audio/Multiroom without Sonos Price Tag

Epic idea from Google and my favorite so far. Originally I thought these were bluetooth like all the other adapters out there and upon reviewing and seething that they were wifi, i bought 6 of them for $150 with the Black Friday Deal.
I want to make this completely evident and clear for those of you out there who havent messed with wireless audio before, bluetooth audio aPTX or not, compresses and kills audio quality, There is no way around it 99% of the time and within reasonable budgets. Wifi speakers have essentially unlimited bandwidth and will not cut off your highs and lows.
These little guys sound great and will stream all day without intervention from you. At the time I bought them they didnt have multiroom support, but that was fixed around Dec 15th. Setup/grouping of the speakers is incredibly easy, and it lets you adjust the audio delay of the individual CCAudios in the group to sync the music.

Doesnt kill your phones battery, your phone controls it, but after you start playing something you can turn your phone completely off to show it isnt using your phone (you dont have to).

Making Smart TVs Smarter

I've always thought these things were neat, but had a smart (just barely) TV. Well my family has several regular HDTVs, so I figured id grab a few of them on the Black Friday Sale and one for myself so I was ready to answer any questions.
So far these things work great, and after showing it off to my parents, my stepmom asked my dad how many he wants, knowing he was excited.

Can this be used in insignia TV usb to connect to Bluetooth speakers?
Unfortunately not, it is not intelligent enough by itself to connect to bluetooth speakers. The device it is plugged into must be able to control it. That usb port is only for service and looking at jpeg pictures (why insignia, who uses their tv as a giant picture frame???)

I have Windows 10. If I plug this into my USB port, will I be able to send a signal from my computer to play my ITunes music which is on my computer to my Bluetooth stereo receiver and speakers?
Easily, but remember, distance is the enemy, if you're under 20ft you shoud be fine, but be careful about reaching the extremes of range, ~30ft as if it starts to drop out or gets unreliable when you're playing music at high volume, you can damage your receiver.

Sorry, your Iphone uses a Lightning cable so no. Unless you are willing to buy one of the lightning to micro usb adapters, then you can.

Sorry if I missed it, but where does it say what it's made of; plastic or metal? I'm guessing, for the price, it's all plastic. But I hope verified buyers will help answer this.
turns out the outside is a lightly rubberized finish on plastic. Fit and feel leave little to be desired. I would be more concerned with it keeping you looking where you want, at your tablet or phone screen which is exactly where you're gonna be, for a long time. No complaints whatsoever performance wise, took two camping and kept 8 people charged for music and DJing over the course of a Week.

With chromecast jack split to (2) RCA jacks input to separate speakers, will it play in stereo?
That's actually a pretty good idea for certain setups.
If done right yes it would. if you were to get two, and only use the left or right for each chromecast, you could do left and right channels and put it on opposite sides of the room instead of two chromecasts doing L/R

Is the power cord just for charging the Chromecast device, or does it need to be plugged in for power to operate?
It must remain plugged in. There is no battery to speak of. My thoughts are getting a portable speaker with a usb charging port and plugging the chromecast into it.
Bam, now you have a portable wifi chromecast speaker. Only thing is, you still need to have your chromecast within range of your wifi.
