Back to Basics: 5 Star Sound, 4 Star Functionality

I got the NW-A45 seeking a replacement to my 160GB iPod Classic (now that I have left the Apple ecosystem). Putting music on my phone just wasn't cutting it.
I'll get the negative out of the way because there's not much. The boot-up time from Power Off can be quite long especially with a large library, and some power-user features aren't present, such as ratings or play count metadata.
However for my review I skew towards sound quality, and boy this player is top-notch in this regard. As someone who doesn't have much Hi-Res audio, the DSEE HX upscaling isn't just a bullet point, it actually makes a substantial difference. The same 320kbps MP3s on the same speakers with the same connection had an audible difference in quality that blew me away.
All of the basics are there for organizing your music library, and the unit itself is designed nicely with nice tactile buttons on the side and expandable memory with microSD.
If you're looking for a "back to basics" portable music player that prioritizes sound quality and gets the job done features and design wise, this is a phenomenal choice.

If you grew up on the Sonic games of the Genesis-era, this game is for you. The nostalgia will hit you big time, and it is incredibly welcoming. The gameplay is 2D Sonic at its best, and the soundtrack is stellar, and more than worthy of the Sonic brand.

Literally, usually cables are just "well guess I need another one" purchase. I still have my original cable even, but this cable is actually built really well. Very sturdy unlike other off-brand, or even brand name cables for other phones (like the iPhone), and comes with a cable snap to hold it wrapped up.
So yeah, I'm writing a review about a stinkin' cable, that says something about it. If you need a USB-C to USB cable, this is the one to get.

Great for Computing & Gaming Combo

I was looking for a monitor for both my Mac Pro and PlayStation TV. This wound up being a really great option, being one of not many monitors that offered both a 3.5mm Headphone Jack output AND 2 HDMI inputs. This is pretty important for gaming so I don't have to keep switching cables, and can use headphones for gaming to keep the noise down.
Image quality is great, and the internal speakers actually aren't bad (although external is always better). Not a whole lot of extra functionality and the menu system is pretty barebones, but what's really important is that it does have preset image modes which can easily be toggled - great for switching between computer work and gaming.
My only gripe if anything is the monitor buttons aren't exactly the most ergonomic when trying to navigate menu levels when adjusting settings, but that's small potatoes here as you likely won't do that often. What matters is the image looks great, the monitor itself is sleek and is built great for multi-input use. Can't get much better than that.

It's not a piece of junk so you can rest easy there, but don't expect this to be the pinnacle of all car mounts.
Mounting process will likely take you a few minutes to get clipped onto your vent depending on your car.
As for the grip, the side clamps are pretty nice and easy to release. The fold out legs work fine and keep your device pretty stable.
The unit can pivot around to help you get a better viewing angle, but there's not much resistance there so you'll notice it might slip a bit when driving. That would be the biggest improvement this unit could benefit from.
That said, it's fine - it's what you expect from a vent mount.

Good Sound, Great PS4 Integration

Sound is quite nice - I think I can make it better however and I need to keep tinkering with the audio profiles. The ability to adjust EQ profiles is nice, and even download some that are tweaked by some developers themselves is cool - but it is a tad bit of a pain to upload those audio profiles to the headset (you need to hook it up via USB). Would be great if the settings could be updated wirelessly. I also would have liked more than a 3-band EQ, but regardless, it sounds great.
I think the biggest benefit, and possibly the selling factor over other headsets is that being a Sony product, it integrates immensely well with the PS4 interface (as it rightfully should).
When you connect the device, you get notifications under your login for not only your controller battery, but headset battery as well. Plus you'll get on-screen feedback for settings changes such as volume adjustments, mic mute/unmute, etc. It's nice to have that visual feedback so you're not left guessing your settings since you can't see the controls otherwise.

So it's "only a 2.1 channel" soundbar, but to be honest I don't see much need beyond 2 channels and the sub, considering the soundbar is placed in front of you (and not around you).
What can I say? The sound is excellent (for all uses). The price is right, and the core features are there. (Bluetooth works well and is easy to pair devices). The subwoofer requires pretty much no setup which is appreciated. It pairs to the bar the first time you use it with zero intervention required.
One edge this soundbar has over some slightly older models is that it has an HDCP 2.2 port. For those who don't know, thats essentially an HDMI port that will probably wind up being required when 4K Ultra-HD Blu-Ray players come out. If the player requires HDCP and your soundbar/TV doesnt have it, then you're out of luck - it won't work. While only 1 of the 3 HDMI ports are HDCP, it does at least have it whereas some devices don't.
As a final added bonus, if you happen to use this with certain TVs (I happen to have a Sony XBR-55X850C), it syncs flawlessly with it. No need for multiple, remotes. The power/volume/mute/input controls are completely synced between both the TV and Soundbar which was quite satisfying. It won't be a feature for everyone, but for those who do use it - it's pretty sweet.
Ultimately though for the price, quality, and easy setup, this is an excellent option for those looking to upgrade their TV sound without buying a receiver and separate speakers.

Amazing 4K option (for the tech savvy)

As a bit of a techie, I was looking for a 4K TV that didn't break the bank, but had a great image and also great image control. The 55in X850C seemed to fit that and I was pleased to find out that it met, and even exceeded these expectations in a few ways.
The setup I use with this TV is a new Sony HT-CT780 Soundbar. Connected to the TV is my cable box, and my PS4 is connected to the Soundbar.
I gave this TV 4 stars because of how great it is for the tech savvy. I'll get the negative out of the way first: the 1 star deduction is due to the near-necessity to be "involved" with the TV's tech. Having Android as an OS is cool, but the firmware update is practically required to use any of the 4K applications (such as Netflix), not to mention some menu systems stop working entirely due to a glitch - the updates resolve this, but you need to be somewhat savvy to make sure the TV is hooked up to the web, and downloading updates.
That out of the way, this TV is a great option for those who do know what they want and want control out of their TV. Image quality is great, especially due to the Triluminos display. Even without the Dynamic Range feature of the higher end Sony TVs, the image still looks crisp and dynamic with amazing color. Those familiar with Sony know that their upscaling is one of (if not) the best in the industry.
The control of the image is really robust too (which is why this set is great for those who know their way around electronics). Deep control over motion blur, image contrast, gamma, backlighting, can also be done on a per-input basis quite easily, easily being able to see your picture adjustments in real time. I was quite happy with this.
My "woah" moments I had with this TV is how smart it is in working with other components. It's able to control the Samsung cable box I have flawlessly, and get TV Guide information right in the TV UI itself. And while it MAY be because I happen to have a Sony soundbar and PS4 as well, the TV talks extremely well with the soundbar. Power/Volume/Mute/Inputs are SYNCED (no need to use multiple remotes, any remote controls the volume of both devices simultaneously) and the TV can read all inputs, wether they are hooked up to the TV itself, or into the soundbar. It's really great. I can have everything off, turn on my PS4, and the TV and Soundbar automatically fire up and switch to the proper inputs.
As for gaming, the input lag is surprisingly low without even needing to enter a 'game mode' which reduces the fidelity of the image which is something I prefer. The remotes are only OK, my biggest gripe being the traditional remotes D-PAD is quite cumbersome. That said it gets the job done. The new "touchpad" remote I tend not to use, although it is pretty slick to use the mic to say "Watch X movie trailer on YouTube" and have it pull up a YouTube search for the thing you asked for right in the TV itself. The Android-powered voice commands are spot on.
I also considered a few Samsung models as I have traditionally gotten Samsung TVs before, but the Sony with the great upscaling and higher reviews online in terms of robust control over the image, the Sony won me over and I'm quite pleased with it. My only advice to Sony would be ensure that new models have proper Quality-checked and working applications and UI features, BEFORE releasing the model and banking on software updates - to ensure those less tech savvy have a better experience out of the box.
If you're looking for a premium 4K TV experience at a more affordable price, it's hard to beat this model. If you just want to turn the TV on and use all of the features flawlessly, proceed with caution. Yes this TV is amazing, but as many have noted, you don't get the complete experience (ie. Netflix not working/available) until you go through the system updates. If you don't mind getting into the nitty gritty of Android OS updates and menu-based settings, this is a really REALLY nice option.
