Power through the day with this Samsung Galaxy Note 7. The huge 64GB storage ensures you always have enough room for your photos from the 12-megapixel camera, and a large 5.7-inch touchscreen makes the Android Marshmallow operating system easy to use. Lots of memory, processing power and support ensure this Samsung Galaxy Note 7 keeps you connected.

Beautiful screen, but fragile
on September 25, 2016

The phone could be the greatest ever if not for a few huge problems.
Pros: the screen has beautiful colors (a little oversaturated, but in a good way) and is a great size. I love the blue light filter for when you are using the phone in bed. It cuts out the part of the light spectrum that keeps you awake.
I am also in love with the stylus and the software that goes with it. Being able to sign documents emailed to me right on my phone and send them straight back is amazing.
I have never had a phone with such a fantastic camera. It really is superb in all lighting conditions.
I like not having to look which way the USB-c cord is facing before I plug it in. I plan on getting a set of usb-c noise cancelling headphones to use with the new plug but haven't yet. They can be made smaller because the sound and power are coming from the phone which means less internals for the headphones.
Cons: the curved edge of the screen is very weak. I keep my phones for two years at a time and have never broken an HTC or BlackBerry screen ever. The second day I had the note 7 the edge of the screen cracked while in my pocket! I had a case on it but no screen protector because it was still being mailed to me. I couldn't believe it. I was so careful with the phone and I still don't know how it happened. Luckily the recall is going to get me a whole new phone, so at least I got that going for me.
The speakers in the phone are some of the worst I have ever heard. Coming off of three HTC flagship phones with dual front facing speakers may have spoiled me a bit, but these are truly pathetic. I was showing my wife a movie trailer on YouTube while we were sitting in the food court of a mall, and even with it turned all the way up she could not tell what was being said and had to stop watching the video. It wasn't even busy at the mall. I also had to download a very loud, old time style phone ringer because I couldn't hear any of my song clip ringers I had downloaded. It is hard to talk to someone if you are in a loud atmosphere, so if you are hard of hearing be warned. Of course this is all overcome by using headphones, but pulling them out every time the phone rings is a pain in the butt.
The screen is not near as responsive as my other phones have been in the past. This is my first Samsung phone so I'm not sure if this is new to the note 7 or not. I was always amazed at how my HTC and BlackBerry phones knew what I was aiming for even when I was way off. On this phone I have to sometimes try many times to hit a big on screen button that should be super easy to hit.
I have found that I am not a huge fan of touchwiz on this phone. Even with it supposedly being dialed way back for the note 7, it is still not very intuitive and I find it hanging for seemingly no reason at all. It's not a huge deal, just something that I have noticed. I just hope it doesn't get worse over time.
Battery life is lackluster at best. I use my phone a good bit during the day and always have to charge it at least once. At least the quick charge lives up to its name and after 15-20 minutes on one, I have enough juice to get me through the rest of the day.
Even with its many flaws, the phone is still great. It is a pleasure to watch HD videos and look at photos on the screen. If the phone had a much sturdier normal screen and not this fragile, could break at any moment edge screen, I would be much more confident in the phone. Combine that with even marginally passable speakers and it would be my favorite phone ever.

Charges fast but will light up a dark room

The charger works just as intended and is very fast. It even charged through my case which I was worried about.
The reason for the lower rating is that it was designed to light up with a very bright blue led light the entire time your phone is charging (turns green when finished). If you use it the way I do, it means the entire time it is by your bedside it is lighting up the whole room blue. I have to cover it with a rag to prevent it from messing up my sleep. The placement of the led underneath the plastic edge makes it hard to use tape to cover it (also makes it ugly). If you are using this product in an office setting or anywhere else where a good night's sleep doesn't matter then you are good to go.
