Inconsistent data pass through speeds

Experienced very inconsistent data pass theough speeds with this router for both wired and wireless connections to the router. Downloaded and upgraded to latest firmware from Netgear, but this did not fix the issue. I can remove the router and connect my laptop directly to my cable modem to confirm that the router appears to be the cause of the pass through download speed inconsistencies. Download speeds through the router vary from 100Mb+ to less than 1Mb.
