Got this as a clearance item at a low price. Using it in stead of a 3G unit from Internet on the Go. I've seen data rates above 4Mbps, or 2-3X the best that the 3G mobile hotspot can do.
The downside is that $50 buys a 1 month contract with 10GB of data. (Unused data are not carried over.) IotG was $29/2GB that don't expire. If you have a smart phone that can be run as a mobile hotspot, don't consider one of these.

Got this as an attempt at a foolproof remote for my elderly father. (On Spectrum cable.) It turned out to be unusable because if it's set in TV mode and the channel is changed, it switches the TV's input to antenna. (It needs to be switched back to Cable to function.) Changing inputs isn't something that he will ever understand. Aside from that, it's a nice unit, especially for its low price.

I have AT&T, can it work with it? And can I get it without a Prepaid card?
It's locked to Boost/Sprint.
I suppose that if you were knowledgeable enough to hack it (SIM card?), you wouldn't be asking. I know nothing about that sort of thing, myself.
It is sold without a prepaid card. You have to sign up for some sort of Boost service to activate it. (One plan from Boost: $50 for 10GB or 1 month, whichever expires first. No rollover of any unused data left over at the end of the month.)

Just bought an iPhone 7 plus from best buy and I want to take it over to boost mobile. Can I do this or do I need to get it unlocked?
Why was this asked with respect to a Franklin R850?
You could use the WiFi connection of the iPhone through the R850, but doubt that it would make sense. The service is intended to provide internet service through the Sprint 4g phone network, and it's pretty expensive compared to wired internet. ($50 for 10gb, for one month.)

Will this work for a sony tv?
I'm using it with a Toshiba TV and a Spectrum (Time Warner) cable box. I haven't used it with a Sony TV, but there are programming codes for Sony. (Plus a means of programming it without entering a code.) Sony TVs are much more popular than Toshiba; I doubt very much that there would be a problem.
