I began my search for a new TV stand because I was sick of using the traditional TV stand as the TV would sit below eye level from our viewing position, which is less then ideal. Accordingly, I wanted a VESA mount stand. I didn't want to attach the TV to my wall, as my studs were in odd locations, so this was the next best option.
I saw this TV on BestBuy.com and read the reviews. They seem slightly mixed, so though I would go check it out in the store, as online it said they had them in stock. They did indeed have a floor model to look at, so I assume at least some stores local to everyone else will also.
The stand is attractive and sleek. It is very easy to assemble. It literally just folds in to place and you bolt it open with a few bolts. Easy peasy. The glass shelves are very thick and sturdy. I am not afraid to put center channel speakers, a heave receiver, or anything else on them.
Three important things to note to anyone buying this TV:
1) While the stand says it only support up to 55", my 65" fits and sits just fine. However, the weight of my TV (60#), pulls the bracket down slightly. You have to push the TV level and screw the bolts in on the back and it will level the TV just fine. After I did this, TV is level and sits perfectly. There is no sense of the stand tipping, the TV falling or anything. Us this for up to a 65" I would say is perfectly safe. Anything over that I say no.
2) To go with #1 above, if you use a 65", it completely takes away the top glass shelf from being used, as the TV sits far too low and putting anything on the top shelf will obstruct the view of the TV. Not a big deal, but anyone using a larger TV - and I think it would be cutting it close even with the 55" - I would say don't even think about using the top shelf at all.
3) While the TV bracket swivel is a very nice feature, it is EXTREMELY loose; and I mean very. If my two year old as much and nudges the TV stand while playing, the TV will shift. I'm going to adjust the swiveling bracket by jamming a piece of cloth in there and that should help, but should be unneeded.
Overall, this is a really nice stand and anyone looking for a really nice VESA mount TV stand shouldn't hesitate to purchase it. I gave it -.5 stars for the swivel being far too loose and another -.5 stars for the top shelf being obstructed by the TV, even at the 55" advertised max.
