easy setup, nice tactile feel
on October 1, 2021
Posted by: GrizzlyD

i replaced a logitech g series keyboard with this one. the logitech had the mechanical clicky switches and while it was a durable keyboard it required two usb ports and was loud.
the huntsman keyboard only uses one usb port, and uses optical switches. the overall feel is very nice. they have a tactile feel and respond very well when pressed. there's a bit of a soft touch to them, and there's zero unnecessary sound produced.
the install was a breeze and it was interesting to me that it automatically loaded the synapse software upon plugin. my only real complaint so far is that there isn't a usb port/hub built into the keyboard.
i've only had it a few days, so i can't speak to the durability. so far i am pleased and would recommend to others.

Wood Floor Wonder
on August 31, 2021
Posted by: GrizzlyD
from Clayton, NC
Not a vacuum, not a swiffer. But offers functionality pretty much in-between, and beyond, those two things. The advantage being you don't have to mess with dirty swiffer pads.
I've got two dogs and two teens and the entire first floor of my home is engineered hardwood floor. So we see a lot of traffic and a lot of hair left behind. I like this Tineco S5 because I'm able to load up the tank with cleaner fluid and just get the whole first floor clean in one go. My bathrooms have tile floors, and I've used it in there as well, but for the most part have stuck with the wood floors so far.
I know you're able to pick up big messes with it, but I've yet to have any to really concern myself with. I typically run the vacuum first to pick up any of the loose hairs and large debris. Then I run the S5 to clean the floor and leave it looking fresh. Any of the hair or debris missed by the vacuum gets picked up by the S5.
The cleaning solution does a pretty good job of cleaning up the floor and leaving it streak free. My biggest wish is that it would leave a bit of shine behind, which it doesn't.
The S5 is able to clean my entire first floor about 1500sq ft in one charge, and one tank of fluid. It has a self-cleaning stage where it cleans itself out and preps itself for next use. All you need do is empty the dirty water tank and put it on the charger to begin self-cleaning.
It comes with an extra roller so that once you soil the first to the point of unusability you can replace it without having to buy a new one.
Overall, I find it easy to use and it seems to do a really good job of cleaning up. I definitely prefer it to other auto-mops I've used in the past, and definitely better than a swiffer. I recommend it if you have a need for this sort of thing.

pricey cam with a few minor complaints
on August 22, 2021

The elgato facecam is a full hd 60 hz webcam that has some really good image quality providing you take some time to make some adjustments, and a few minor annoyances.
First, the video is pretty sharp and the software it comes with gives you a good bit of freedom to make adjustments to the image quality. Out of the box the saturation is a bit high and gives everything quite a red tint. You can adjust this to make the image quality a little more bearable, but it's low light performance is still sub-par. There is a image sharpening and softening setting that can make you look a bit like a superstar as it softens out the lines and makes you look as if you're wearing makeup. Not too bad if you're looking to make yourself look younger.
On to my annoyances. First, the lens cap isn't part of the chassis, so it means you've got to fiddle with it and this results in you tending to knock it off the monitor or unseat it from it's mount. I just feel like, for the money, you should have some sort of shutter/cover that is built-in so you don't have to worry about knocking it over. The zoom settings seem to work ok, and the auto-focus is just ok. I alluded to this earlier, but the mount for the monitor is again, just ok. It has a tendency to just sort of balance there and not really provide much of a grip, assuring you that it is secure. Lastly, the camera body is huge! It dwarfs any other camera I've used recently. Technology should shrink with advancements, not get bigger.
I compared this to my Logitech C930e, and the c930e just had better visual quality and a much smaller package with rapid auto-focus for a large price decrease.
For the price point, I might consider looking at other options. Since this is their first go at it, they might manage to make a much better version in the next run. It's a good camera, but maybe not good enough to warrant that price point quite yet...especially since it's only 1080p.

Yes, it's that powerful: Play with performance with a powerful AMD processor and mighty graphics. All that power stays cool with our frosty OMEN Tempest Cooling. We can't stop others from feeling a little envy. Gaming shouldn't feel this good: Feast your eyes on this 16.1 diagonal inch machine, boasting a high resolution and fast refresh rate. The floating hinge design and Audio by Bang & Olufsen show it off while you go off. And the long battery life lets you play even longer. One place. All play. OMEN Gaming Hub is your one-stop shop to elevating your play. From getting rewards just by gaming, to controlling every little performance and lighting option of your machine, the list goes on. Every game, every play, every moment is now in your control.

Fairly Priced, Above Modest Gaming Performance
on July 29, 2021
Posted by: GrizzlyD
from Clayton, NC
My teen is using this one as a mix between school use and gaming. She's not into the most intense games. Matter of fact she's playing games that tend to be a couple years old on avg. So this machine tends to do a pretty good job of performing well with AAA titles of yesteryear. I wouldn't expect it to crush at anything brand new.
The display is pretty pleasing overall and renders colors and blacks at a level to be expected at this price-point.We noted that it was a fair amount brighter than the tv she was using to play games on and was quite a bit happier that in dark scenes she was able to see content that was not visible before on her xbox one.
The led colors on the keyboard brought a bit of excitement from my teen. She was stoked to have a machine that had the multi-color keyboard she could customize. While on the topic of the keyboard, this to me is one of it's biggest detractors. I simply am not a fan of these chicklet style keyboards on gaming laptops. For one thing, it's very compact and offers little spacing around/between keys. So for someone with bigger hands it's downright complicated not to push the wrong buttons at times. There's a massive bit of real estate around the keys on the edge of the device...why not spread them out a little. So that being said, if you're going to be a gamer with this....plan on getting a standalone keyboard and mouse.
The CPU performs quite well and the RAM is just enough to get the job done. However, it can't hurt to bump the ram up a bit to 32gb. It gets a little noisy under load as it attempts to funnel out the heat inside the chassis. The GPU is fair, but nothing to write home about.
Battery life is going to be a bit of a problem, but that's true of any "gaming" laptop. When you're running CPU/GPUs at full tilt and active cooling to keep the heat away...they're gonna chew through the batteries. So I wouldn't plan on any untethered gaming marathons. Keep that power cord close by. Another knock is the proprietary power connection. Several laptop manufacturers have been switching to USB-C connectors and those are AWESOME! And then some are sticking with these classic barrel connectors that mean you're stuck with their power supply for the long haul.
It's a bit big for school use, but can certainly do a great job of this if necessary as it has plenty of RAM and CPU to make great presentations and write documents and do web surfing all simultaneously.
It's got plenty of ports for external peripherals which is great because we always have need for several external devices like keyboards, mice, etc. WiFi performance is solid, and the sound quality is about average. Plan on having some good headphones for gaming.
The Omen Gaming Hub is really a bit of bloat and offers no real use or advantage to the experienced user. There's the typical AV and other junk software installed that you end up having to remove. But that comes with the territory on devices like this.
Overall you shouldn't be too disappointed if you're in the market for a gaming machine, but don't want to spend a lot of dough. It comes well appointed and provides a good platform for such. As well it's not overly heavy and can be transported to/from school as needed.

Awesome device! Fun for the fam!
on July 19, 2021

Ice Cream, Sorbet, Gelato, Milkshakes....the works! We've had a blast making our own flavors and experimenting with our CREAMi Ice Cream Maker. Is it cheaper than store bought? ...probably not, but you have complete control over the ingredients and that makes it well worth it considering our household has persons with a dairy allergy.
To date we've made Lite Vanilla Ice Cream w/chocolate chips, Chocolate Ice Cream, Chocolate Milkshakes with mix-ins, Blueberry Pomegranate Sorbet, Cherry Pomegranate Sorbet, Peach Ice Cream, and Vanilla Cookie Dough Ice Cream. Each and every one has been quite tasty and we've stuck with doing dairy free versions of everything. We've used Oat Milk, Coconut Creme, and Vegan Cream Cheese for most recipes. We've used the Agave Nectar in favor of sugar in some cases as well. Even these dairy free alternatives have been good. I would wager the dairy versions would be fantastic!!
The process is really quite simple, but don't confuse it for one of those old school ice cream machines that use salt and ice. This is very much something that require a bit of patience as they ask you to mix the ingredients and let it sit in the freezer for 24 hours before mixing.
The only real misconception beyond that previously mentioned would be that carrying the Ninja name, you'd expect it to be able to blend things. Truth is they tell you to only use soft fruits as it is not a blender. So it limits you just a bit to canned and soft fruits. But there's still a recipe book of hundreds of choices.
I would very much recommend this as it's fun for the whole fam making your own creations and being in control of the finished product. On top of that, it's much healthier too.
Only con is that it only comes with 3 pint containers to start. Try it out today, you'll love it!

Pixel Buds A-Series bring you rich, high-quality sound for a lot less than you’d expect. Their beamforming mics help make calls crystal clear.*** The flush-to-ear design is stylish, and the stabilizer arc keeps them in place so you can wear them even during the sweatiest workout.**

Fantastic Sound, Easy Install
on June 22, 2021
Posted by: GrizzlyD

These things are incredible!! A really great sound from such tiny earbuds. The bass is really strong considering their size, and it's not all that muddy like a lot of earbuds tend to be. It hits the highs really quite well too.
The setup was simple. Pop them out of the package, and they immediately pop up on your phone (I have a Pixel phone) with a setup wizard. The wizard gives you a small tutorial during setup teaching you how to use them properly. The shortcuts for the google assistant are really nice and it makes searching for things even easier than before.
Similar to those other "pods", they allow you to have only one in your ear at a time and still use all the functionality. They offer noise cancelation, microphone pickups for calls, and really solid battery life.
A great feature is the ability to be selective about what sorts of notifications you allow to come through the headphones. Don't want calls or texts to interrupt? Turn them off. Or maybe you only want calls and texts, but you don't want app notifications.
The fit is really good! They easily secure in your ear, and come with 3 diff't sized ear pieces. They don't move around and are good for wearing while moving a lot or working out. And the best part is they don't hang outside your ear like those other "pods". They are one tiny unit that fits snugly right inside your earlobe with nothing that protrudes out.
I am very impressed by them and the quality and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for devices like this.

Cut The Cord
on May 22, 2021
Posted by: GrizzlyD
from Clayton, NC
Pros:
Good lighting
Amazing feel
Great battery life
Rapid charging time
Great customization options
Smooth glide
Cons:
Only 2 colors on website (white or black)
RGB is only on top half of mouse and doesn't extend down bottom half
For months I've used the wired version of this mouse and it's been fantastic, great glide, good grip, the amount of customization is amazing. This week I decided to upgrade to the wireless version and I've performed much better in all the games I've played. The looseness of not being bound by a cord really helps me move more freely when gaming. The RGB is bright and vibrant, and the glide is fantastic once again. With very simple directions you can turn it on fully charged out of the box and it will connect either via Bluetooth, or USB. With more than 100+ hours of battery life and rapid charging you can use it during the day without fear of dying and charge overnight or during a break. It's very lightweight and its a very comfortable material which fits well in my hand. It has two mouse buttons on the left which can be programmed for different tasks in the app you install with it. The app also allows hundreds of different color options for the lighting, and many different settings for sensitivity, scroll speed, or custom profiles per user. I definitely would recommend this product to anyone in need of a wireless mouse.

Clean, Dynamic highs, Lows Requires Tweaking
on May 13, 2021
Posted by: GrizzlyD
from Clayton, NC
The Virtuoso RGB Wireless XT headset comes boxed in the tightest, most waste free packaging I've seen in any set of gaming headsets. This is a good move, I feel like all too often the product manufacturers think they have to justify their price tag by making this big elaborate box filled with paper and nonsense that we just toss out. In this case the box is reasonably spartan yet protects the contents very well in shipping.

There's a padded cloth bag that they expect you to use when transporting them. It's a very nice bag, but I'm never gonna use this. These are going to stay right here on my desk for gaming. The enclosed cables (usb, 1/8" stereo extension) are really nice cables. They went with a braided usb cable that has some really solid gauge insulation on it with a nice solid connector on each end. The same is true of the wired stereo cable.
These headphones can be connected either wired, wireless wifi, or bluetooth. To connect them via wireless wifi you will need to use the packaged usb dongle, which is nice and compact. They advertise that their connectivity is "high-fidelity, low latency, and has exceptional range"...but to be honest. They connected and worked, so I have no idea if they are better or worse than any other wireless headset. As well, you can connect them to both the wireless dongle and bluetooth on your phone at the same time.
What matters is the sound. And these headphone produce an extremely clear, very loud sound. Out of the box, with Dolby Atmos enabled, the highs are too high, and the lows are almost non-existent and muddy. I started to panic a bit thinking something was up because these headphones have 50mm drivers, a good 10mm bigger than my previous set of Astros. But when they say that these have double the high frequency range of other gaming sets, they mean it. Clocking in at 20Hz-40,000Hz, when the typical set sits at 20Hz-20,000Hz, you can immediately hear the difference in that high range.
It took a bit of discovery to realize that I had to open the Dolby Access app and disable Performance mode, which is designed to accentuate the highs to create a more positional audio experience for shooter games. Once I disabled the Performance mode, and switched to a balanced eq, I was able to cleanly hear some excellent lows and really clean highs. Overall these headphones produce an incredible sound worthy of the pricetag.
They are nice and light and well constructed. They feel nice and sturdy and fit on my head very comfortably. The ear pads are nice and soft, but don't vent heat very well. So they get pretty warm on my ears with prolonged use. For a wireless set with a battery inside, I was really surprised by how lightweight they were. The mic boom is removable and has a button on it that enables you to quickly mute with a tap. There's a red light ring on the end of the boom that you can spot that gives you a clear indicator of whether you are muted or not.
The RGB feature feels a bit like an afterthought and not real functional. It's basically just a small corsair logo on the back of each earpiece and then the light ring on the mic boom that changes colors. It requires you to install iCUE to get it to work, and truth be told the value just isn't there in having it turned on. It eats a little extra battery over time and you can't see it when wearing it anyway.
The headphones have the ability to go to sleep after being laid down for a period of time (which you can adjust), and then will automatically turn back on when you pick them back up. They claim to have about 15hrs of battery life, but I haven't yet had the chance to really put that to the test.
Overall, I would recommend these to a friend. Once I figured out how to overcome the overpowering highs and bring out the lows they really do shine. My only complaint is that they do heat up when wearing them and sadly I don't see a way to replace the ear cups later. Perhaps you can, but I'm not prepared to start yanking on them to find out. They sound great, and they are lightweight and wireless. You really can't complain!

Loaded Featureset, Good Print Quality
on April 27, 2021
Posted by: GrizzlyD
from Clayton, NC
The 9025e is a pretty good middle level office inkjet printer. It was incredibly easy to setup out of the box. Plug it in, and install the HP Smart software. Let the rest just kinda happen. Once it's on the network you can print from just about anywhere.
While the printer does make a fair amount of noise, it produces good quality prints and doesn't leave a lot of ink on the page to bleed. Solid color reproduction, and the edges to text is nice and clean.
Print speed is a plus...It tends to churn out pages pretty quickly.
Installing ink was definitely different than printers of the past. It has a chamber that is spring-loaded to hold the carts. I had to reseat them multiple times thinking I hadn't loaded them correctly as they didn't always line up the same way each time.
The instant ink service is a plus in my opinion. I've been using it in my business for several years now and I've not had many complaints. The pricing is decent, and the delivery speed is good. There's only been a couple issues where I've had to reach out to them to get new carts for one random reason or another. But they were always quick to deliver.
This model is particularly nice with the ADF feature on the scanner. It's a massive time saver not to have to switch pages doing scans.
In all, I would say I am pleased with this printer and would recommend it to others.

Pricey, Complicated Outdoor Speakers
on March 15, 2021
Posted by: GrizzlyD
from Clayton, NC
This speaker system produces an excellent sound and can really fill a yard with sound. However, the install is not to be gone into with any sort of reckless abandon. It will require preparation and a bit of knowhow.
The first thing I want to speak to is that the system does not come with speaker cable. So you're going to need to find some really good cable that can safely be buried and withstand the elements. I would also be prepared to keep some sort of mapping as to where you put said cabling so if you have to dig in the future, you know where they are.
The box is huge and packaged pretty well. Nothing was damaged in shipping and everything looks great coming out of the box. The sonos amp is quite nice, but not weatherproof. So you'll need some sort of plan for installing this outdoors. Either you run the wiring outside from inside, or you put the amp outside and have some sort of protective location to store it.
The speakers themselves are not tiny, but not large. They produce a great sound and hide really well amongst the landscaping. Again though, take care not to plant anything with a large root system near the cabling. The sub is powered and will require not only burying the sub, but it's power cords as well. The box comes with weatherproof wire nuts for making solid connections to whatever speaker cable you choose to go with.
In all, it's a great sounding system, that requires quite a bit of planning and technical skill to install correctly. It should not be undertaken by someone who has no technical skills. If you want it done right, hire someone to be on the safe side.
Personally, if I had a mulligan I might have gone with a smaller setup as 6 speakers was a bit of overkill. Especially since the system recommends you install them 8-10ft apart. I would recommend this for a family with a large yard and for those who like to spend a great deal of time outdoors.

I want to bouy and forward it to Brazil through Shipito. Is it unlocked to other carriers?

The device is carrier unlocked, but you'll want to ensure it can operate on the carrier bands available in Brazil.

Is this phone compatible with T-Mobile plans?

The device is carrier unlocked. I am using it on AT&T. It's safe to say it will operate on T-Mo as well.

Is this phone worth getting over an iPhone 7,I'm getting Teri's of apple and heard that google phones are really good. Also is it hard go to use to the way this phone works if ur a iPhone user. Thx for help.

Apple is behind the curve. They consistently play catch-up to Android now. Make the switch...you'll be happy you did.

Nothing puts a vacuum to the test quite like a home with pets. That's why the BISSELL® Pet Hair Eraser® was developed from the ground up by pet parents for pet parents. Whether it's shedding season for your dog or your cat tracks kitty litter all over the house, this revolutionary vacuum is designed to make cleaning up after pets and the people who love them a breeze—from beginning to end. Say goodbye to hair wrap with its Tangle-Free Brush Roll, remove embedded hair everywhere with specialized pet tools, help capture allergens and eliminate odors with the SmartSeal™ Allergen System, and when you're finished cleaning, enjoy a hands-free tank empty with our patented Cyclonic Spooling System™.BR>

How load is it? I've used an Oreck XL upright and a Eureka Mighty Mite and would hope it's no louder as those. I prefer bagged vacuums but want to try the BISSELL Pet Hair Eraser because of its claims of not getting hair tangled on the roller.

It's louder than my Dyson DC28. I wouldn't say its outrageously loud, but it's got a bit of a high pitch whine to it.

LG OLED 4K Ultra HD TV: Enjoy a cinematic viewing experience in your living room with this OLED HDTV, which presents a 4K Ultra HD picture. Plus, you can connect to the Internet with built-in Wi-Fi and webOS 2.0 for access to a wide range of apps, including Netflix.

What is the refresh rate?

there is no refresh rate/response time on an OLED. the pixels are instant on/off. however, there is input lag on the hdmi ports with post processing turned on. i've seen no problems with gaming on the cinema preset. if it's something that concerns you, you can simply turn on game more which disables a lot of post processing lag. but again, my assessment is that it's a moot point.

From: http://www.avsforum.com/forum/40-oled-technology-flat-panels-general/2132034-lg-55ef9500-65ef9500-oled-owners-thread.html

1. Display lag measured with a Leo Bodnar tester. Getting this out of the way. I'm not a gamer......

HDMI1 - All modes 50ms

HDMI3
ISF Mode - 120ms
Game Mode - 64ms
Rename input from HDMI3 to PC - 50ms

Update WOS to 3.0?

Will LG update to WOS3.0 ???? I have a EF9500 and it would be bad if they don't update it for the price we paid for this TV and I just got it in Dec 2015..
rumors are no

will this TV benefit from Geek Squad Calibration?

Got this TV several months ago. Think the picture is good, but not significantly better than my 2 yr. old Samsung. Got differing opinions from sales mgr. & geek tech when I asked this Q, then read calibration review from a customer on another LG TV saying the LG he had actually got worse with the Geek Squad Calibration. I don't want to waste my $, but want to make sure I'm getting the best picture I can now that I've invested the $ I did buying it. Any info out there re: 65" LG OLED 4K flat screen calibration?
make certain you're running the latest firmware from the website. the auto updater in the us isn't working properly. it's up to 4.20.75 as of today. i performed a calibration on it, and ultimately decided to go back to the preset Cinema settings. I for one prefer the brightness that comes with this preset. The colors out of the box are pretty spot on, and I actually like the Soap Opera Effect.

Try these calibration settings before blowing several hundred dollars on one: http://www.cnet.com/forums/discussions/lg-65ef9500-picture-settings/

but know that those settings will drastically reduce brightness.
