I bought this item and when I plug it in it blinks 4 lights but when I plug into a device it won't turn on what do I do
The lights don't stay on all the time. They only come on initially and turn off. Your device should still charge even though the lights are off. If not you should try a different charger cable or return the product.

You need the hub. There are brands out there that are hubless, but each bulb costs way more.

Any drawbacks using laptop ssd in a desktop computer?
I just noticed I installed a laptop ssd into a desktop computer as primary hard drive. Creating a gaming machine which will go thru serious stress and use. Should I swap it for the 850 Pro 1TB 2.5 instead? I (already installed 850 Pro 1TB for laptop)
No drawbacks. You just need to make sure it is properly installed with an adapter caddy or other method.
