LG 24.0 Cu. Ft. Counter-Depth French Door Refrigerator with Thru-the-Door Ice and Water: This counter-depth refrigerator gives your kitchen a streamlined look without sacrificing storage space. Innovative organizational features let you store more groceries while still being able to find what you're looking for.
We got this fridge as an open box item at a significant discount about 4 months ago. Had it been completely new it would have went back to BestBuy. We have to have a counter depth model as that is all that will fit in our kitchen. These are a whole lot more expensive than full size fridges, so when we saw this one we jumped on it. After about 3 months ice that had slowly been building up on the condenser coils started coming out the vents behind the Glide and Serve drawer. This is not an area that is easily visible, so fortunately we noticed it before the fridge completely stopped working. This issue is probably why the original purchaser returned it. This is a known issue with this model where the defrost cycle does not run long enough, and the fix is a new main computer control board. LG had a local service company replace it at no cost, but we still had to empty out the fridge and all the shelves and drawers so the repairman could remove the ice from the coils. Then we had to wait two weeks for the part to arrive, and the technician to return and replace it in the back of the fridge.
It's too bad because otherwise we really love this fridge. It provides so much more space than our old side-by-side. The filtered water tastes great, and the ice-maker, though small, provides sufficient ice for our every day needs.
If you are looking to buy this model (choices for french-door counter depth models are very limited), I would suggest first calling LG and giving them the serial number of the unit to see if it has an older computer board that has the defrost issue.
