Don't bother buying Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon in 4K/HDR. It is full of noise and is very poorly done. Just stick with the Bluray. I love this movie ... but I had to turn the TV's noise reduction up to high in order to even get the 4K/HDR version to be viewable. The noise is pervasive in the actor's skin through huge sections of the movie. I could tell the HDR was better than the standard Bluray - but this was a poorly done 4K/HDR movie.

I've always loved the OLED TVs and had been watching the prices for several months - they vary over $1,000. I really wanted a 65" and I could not really find any details on why the G6P and E6P were so much more expensive. I have a sound system so I didn't care about speakers. I've never had a 3D TV either, and even though it seems to be dying out - I wanted to try it. Before I purchased I'd have rather had a flat screen (B6P) but opted for the C6P to get 3D instead - for the same price as the B6P. Also opted for the 65" instead of a 55" E6P - as there was very little price difference.
So I picked the OLED65C6P up on sale at Best Buy on the post-Thanksgiving sales for $2,700 + tax. I also was on the waiting list to pick up an OPPO UDP-203 4K HDR Bluray player. I have some other OPPO devices and so it seems I was early on the list and I placed my order the day I received the email. The UDP-203 was delivered just before Christmas! So I've had the TV for 7 weeks and the 4K/HDR Bluray player for 3.5 weeks. I've watched a lot of movies on it!
I'm not an expert at AV calibration - but I do have Spears & Munsil's HD Benchmark discs. AIX Records Audio Calibration disc. I've been through the basic setups that do not require additional equipment to do measurements of the screen. Out of the box the calibration was pretty close - only minor adjustments to all of the static settings. I'm using 4:4:4 and color depth at 10bits which this TV supports. I've struggled with judder, more on that later. So the calibration is at least decent.
I have a very dark room and generally I'm the only one watching the TV - so I can sit centered. The off-axis viewing is quite good - but the curved screen is going to have limitations if you're trying to watch football with many people and some out at the edges. But if you're at a reasonable angle - the image is superb. Also, if you have a bright room, the curved screen can pick up reflections from all over the room. For my situation - getting the 3D instead of the flat screen was the right choice.
3D is fantastic on this screen. Clear, detailed, bright - passive glasses work fantastic. I've watched the following movies and fully enjoyed each one: Avatar, Underworld - Awakening, The Hobbit - Battle of the Five Armies, Star Wars - The Force Awakens, and Gravity.
4K/HDR Bluray's I'm basing my comments on: Oblivion, Jason Bourne, The Secret Life of Pets, Independence Day Resurgence, Ender's Game, The Hunger Games - all four movies, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.
First off, don't bother buying Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon in 4K/HDR.
The blacks and dynamic range that come through with these movies is really good. Ender's game has a lot of battle room scenes with black space. Gravity also stands out in this regard. The detail is stunning - particularly on close up shots of actors faces. I watched Oblivion last night again - and this stands out. The HDR does seem to come through very nicely; there's still detail in the dark/clouds during lightening strikes. Dark regions (not empty space of course) carry more detail in them.
So far, great TV! Static photo-like scenes, e.g. Blue Planet, are also stunning.
The struggle I've had is with fast movement and Judder. I typically leave TruMotion, Real Cinema, and Motiona Eye Care settings OFF. If I turn some combination of these on it will smooth out the motion nicely (eliminate judder) -- say of someone moving in front of a detailed background. However it then creates artifacts in the background right around the person or edge that is moving. For my eyes, I'd usually rather tolerate the judder than the edge artifacts. That said, the good news is that, you can find settings which balance these two effects. Sometimes I make an adjustment after a movie has started. But then I will get into a mode of viewing where I do not notice (or only rarely notice) the motion issues. Thus, my positive comments above with several movies that have motion.
There are several tests in the Spears & Munsil's HD Benchmark discs specifically for this. Bands of bars moving past each-other. I can find a nice setting where the bands moving look great, but then the artifacts show up at the interface where the different groups of bands pass each-other. For the girl swinging in a hammock test I can easily make the girl and hammock swing smoothly. But in the process it completely fills the background behind the hammock with artifacts.
With cable/satellite sources (1080p - but everything is compressed these days) I generally turn on mpeg noise reduction to some level. You're just going to have artifacts here with anything that's fast moving. While I readily see them, my wife never does.
WebOS 3 - I love it. User interface to the TV is perfect. There are plenty of IO connections. I know the speakers work - but I never use them. The TV packaging was really good - foam curved to the glass. I was able to do the assembly of the base myself (albeit a little tricky) and then get it up on my AV unit - it would help to have another person.
Would I have bought the 55E6P for the same price if I knew that the "E" would eliminate the motion issues? I don't think so. It would be a flat screen with 3D. However, I already sit pretty close to the 65" to get the benefits of 4K, going to 55" makes it even closer. I would not have spent another $1,000-$1,500 for the 65E6P, or another $3,000-$4,000 for the 65G6P, to eliminate the motion issues.
This is an outstanding setup. I am very happy with the TV! But I can't give it 5 stars.
While I'm here, the OPPO UDP-203 4K HDR Bluray player is great. All my SACDs still sound as good on it (and my existing speakers) as they did on the OPPO BD-105D. Maybe that means I need new speakers so I can try to hear the difference? My wife will love that plan. ;-)

Already had the 2D Bluray of this movie, but recently bought a 3D capable TV (OLED65C6P) and wanted to try out the 3D version. Detail is excellent as is the immersion experience. Even if you're not a big fan of the story - the 3D experience is worth watching over and over anyway. Stunning.
